Justice Will Be Served

By Gwen Morett, About.com

At the Salem Inn Suite, Steve, Kayla, and Steph wake up on the sofa. Steph reveals that she came back and noticed how cute and cuddly her parents looked and covered them up, since she didn’t want to wake them. She expresses how much she missed them and how happy she is to have them home safe and sound. Kayla embraces her daughter. Steph implores her parents to promise that they will keep themselves safe and out of trouble. Steph and Kayla briefly discuss their relationships with Max and Steve before Steph hopes that the cops lock Ava up and throw away the key. Kayla suggests they just talk about her and Max. Steph marvels how understanding and patient Max was throughout the kidnapping ordeal and doesn’t know how she could’ve gotten through it without him.

Steph later asks what her parents are up to today. Kayla isn’t sure, but Steve says the first thing he intends to do is take a shower. After Steve goes into the bedroom, Steph notices the tension between her parents and asks Kayla if everything’s alright. Kayla claims everything’s fine and wants to hear what’s going on with Steph. Steph confesses that besides the fact that her family was being held hostage by a madwoman, she’s never been happier in her life. A smiling Kayla asks why. “Because I’m in love,” smiles Steph.

Chelsea is at the hospital and fantasizes about Daniel, in which he refers to himself as an idiot for taking himself off of her case. He admits that he wants to be more than just her doctor. “Truth is, I have feelings for you. Real feelings. I think I’m falling in love with you,” he confesses. Hope brings a smiling Chelsea back to reality and notes that she seemed like a million miles away.

Ava is restrained in her hospital room and screams for Patch, then wakes up and sees the cop watching her. A hysterical Ava screams for her to get out of there, otherwise she’ll be sorry like the rest of them. A nurse enters and injects her IV with a sedative while Ava continues to yell and protest.

Elsewhere, Bo encounters Daniel, who tells him that Chelsea’s discharge papers are ready at the nurse’s station. Daniel gives him the good news that there’s no more sign of infection. He implores Bo not to blame himself and to blame him instead. “Assigning blame doesn’t undo the damage that was done,” counters Bo, who intends to help his daughter get through this.

Chelsea and Hope hear Ava’s screams outside her room. Hope briefs Chelsea that Ava’s very sick. She questions what Chelsea was daydreaming about and deduces that it was something pretty good by the look on her face. Chelsea says she was thinking about family and how grateful she was that they’ll help her get better. Bo and Daniel approach the ladies, where Bo reveals that Daniel gave him her walking papers. The mood is tense between Daniel and Chelsea. Daniel excuses himself, where Hope thanks him and assures him that Bo’s not blaming him for Chelsea’s infertility. She asks him to give Chelsea any special instructions while she speaks to Bo. Daniel offers to have the nurse do it, which prompts a confused Hope to ask why he can’t. “Because Chelsea’s not my patient anymore,” he reveals. Hope suspects there’s more to this than what he’s telling her. Daniel remarks what a wonderful girl Chelsea is, and Hope should be proud of her. Hope questions if he’s always this complimentary about all of his patients. Daniel claims he is if they deserve the praise. Hope is skeptical, though. Daniel tells her to believe what she wants, then excuses himself.

Ava is later sedated and has a disturbing dream where she mumbles, “Take care of em’ Daddy. Kill em. Kill em all.”

Steve later arrives at the hospital and encounters Hope, who asks what he’s doing there. He reveals that he’s there to see Ava. He enters Ava’s room and introduces himself to the officer, who tells him that they had to give Ava a sedative. He sits down next to a sleeping Ava and apologizes. “I did this to you,” laments Steve.

Bo insists to Chelsea that he wants to take care of her at his house. Chelsea assures him that her life isn’t over. Bo mentions how Daniel said the same thing and also revealed that he wasn’t her doctor anymore. Chelsea claims Daniel’s really busy. Bo offers to talk to him, but Chelsea says she wants to go home. She admits that for the first time in a long time she’s going to feel like she’s going home for real this time.

Nick works on his grant proposal at the pub when Max gives him a refill of coffee. Max notes that Nick is working on something intense and asks what it is. Nick says it’s his grant and he needs to figure out how to make it work, which is the hardest part. Max suggests that he takes a break. Nick tells Max that his hovering is making him nervous. When Max sits down with him, it's quite obvious that Nick would like him to get lost. Max picks up Nick's calculator and shows Nick how he plugged in some calculations on his paper and came up with a totally different answer from that of Nick’s. Nick plugs the numbers in and realizes that Max is right, in that the previous calculation is all wrong. Max appears as though he knows more than he’s letting on.

Abe and Lexie enter the pub, where Lexie jokes about having their own booth with a plaque, since they are becoming regulars there. Abe suggests at least having a sandwich named after them, like one with corn beef and a whole lot of boloney. He remarks how much he enjoyed dinner last night, although it didn’t exactly go as planned since they were both tired. Lexie is eager to go to the hospital, since she’s worried about Bo taking Chelsea’s infertility really hard. Abe reminds her that they made a pact about their relationship being a top priority. Lexie suggests that maybe just for this week they could put their special morning on hold. Abe reminds her how he made time for their morning and his work can wait. Lexie complains how he’s always at work and half the time she can’t even reach him. Abe argues that the hospital can take care of itself for one hour while they have breakfast together. Lexie reluctantly agrees that the hospital can get along without her for the time being.
