Sami and Lucas continue to argue as they rehash the vendetta and his schemes with Kate. Sami attests that EJ has been a hell of a good husband lately, which is more than she can say for him. Lucas sarcastically thanks her for the homecoming. Sami clarifies that EJ has been there for her at one of the hardest times of her life when he was pushing her away. “I told you to move on with your life because I love you!” he exclaims, as he rehashes how much pain EJ has caused the family. Sami defends EJ, stating how he helped them find John and disassociated himself from the DiMeras. Marlena backs Sami up on this.

Sami suggests they get an objective opinion from John, since he’s removed from the situation. John partly sides with “the convict,” since his woman cheated on him with the man whom Lucas despises. He expresses relief that Elvis finally “did” her. “Because the sexual tension in this room was becoming very distracting,” adds a blunt John, which embarrasses Sami. John deduces that Blondie’s family is even more screwed up than he is. Lucas agrees that Sami takes the cake, in that she’s totally lost her mind. Sami blames Lucas for making her crazy. Marlena urges them to calm down and talk more rationally later. Lucas declares that he’s out of there and storms out of the mansion. He fumes when his ankle monitor goes off.

Philip knocks on the door of the Brady Pub, surprised that it’s closed. Pete answers it and Philip says he was supposed to meet someone there. Pete recognizes him as Bo’s brother and invites Phil in. After Pete heads to the back, Philip signals a mystery man inside to go over some details with him to ensure there’s no screw-ups. He needs to know if he can count on the guy. “For the amount of dough you’re paying me? You bet you can,” affirms the man.

Philip and the man sit down, where the man assures Philip that no-one will ever be able to connect him or his Victor. Phil affirms that the money will be transferred as soon as it’s done, and the man isn’t to contact him ever again. After the man leaves, Philip is surprised to see Chloe come in. She questions who the smarmy looking guy was and what Phil was asking him to do. Philip claims it was business and warns her to stay out of it. “Or what?” she challenges. Chloe coos how she loves it when he acts all tough. Philip asks why he followed her. Chloe wants to have a chat about the two of them.

Nicole finds EJ outside the pub and asks him why he didn’t answer his cell phone. EJ claims he was busy and tries to brush her off. “EJ, I need you, and from the look on your face something tells me you need me too,” she surmises. He tries to excuse himself to go inside, but Nicole says he can’t because the pub’s closed. EJ doubts she needs any more booze after her last embarrassing performance at the DiMera mansion earlier. She admits she shouldn’t have come to the mansion, especially “three sheets to the wind.” He thanks her for fixing things with Samantha and proceeds to go grab a drink somewhere. Nicole whines how she’s in a crisis and needs his help. EJ cracks jokes until Nicole mentions Pookie. He gives his condolences, initially assuming that the pooch has passed on. Nicole clarifies that Pookie’s fine, but the dog can’t come home until tomorrow and wants EJ to help her get Pookie out tonight. EJ says he is sick to death of hearing about Pookie. “Well, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I’d been annoying you,” quips Nicole, whining how Pookie’s the best friend she’s ever had. EJ reluctantly agrees to help her, but only if she answers one question. “What is wrong with you?” he asks. He points out that she’s smart, funny, charming, and beautiful and wonders why she insists on living her life like this. She claims that everything’s the way she wants it. EJ points out how she’s in the middle of an ugly divorce, she drinks like a fish, and the only things she cares about are money, power, and a little dog. He believes she’s actually much better than that. Nicole disagrees, stating that what you see is what you get. EJ insists that there’s nothing wrong with her that a little self-confidence wouldn’t cure.

EJ tries to assure Nicole that she’s a really intelligent woman who hides it really well. Nicole whines how something always goes wrong, just like her love life. EJ surmises that she hasn’t found the right guy yet, but Nicole believes the right guy doesn’t exist for her. EJ suggests that maybe she’s looking in all the wrong places. She implies that maybe the right guy is in front of her face. EJ reminds her that he’s head over heels for Samantha. He reveals that Sami admitted caring about him. “What about Lucas?” inquires Nicole. EJ informs her that Lucas just got out of prison on house arrest program. Nicole assumes that he and Sami don’t have a chance of hooking up. EJ believes that once the dust settles, Sami will realize that she’s in love with him. Nicole advises him not to be a fool, affirming that Sami will always love Lucas. She quickly comes to the conclusion that EJ and Sami did the horizontal mambo and Lucas walked in on them. EJ clarifies that they weren’t doing it at the time Lucas walked in on them. Nicole deduces that Lucas played the victim and Sami felt responsible. She says he’s better off without Sami, but EJ isn’t admitting defeat yet. “You don’t get it, do you? You’re not only back to square one, you’re not even in the game. It’s over!” asserts Nicole.

Back inside, Philip and Chloe have a drink together as Chloe predicts there’s about as much hope for her and Brady as there is for him and Belle. Philip proposes they stop playing games and Chloe just tell him exactly what she wants. “I want you, to help me forget about Brady,” she propositions. Philip agrees, but only as long as it’s not just about getting back at Victor. “I don’t like being used,” he warns. Chloe smiles with intrigue. Philip notes that she’s really into the whole friends with benefits thing. “You could be just the medicine I need right now,” predicts Philip. “And the best part of this medicine, is that it goes down real easy,” she continues before kissing him.
