Back inside, Steph watches Abe leave and wonders if the commander believes that Philip’s involved. Max hopes not and informs her that the drugs weren’t found on Philip’s ship, they were found on John’s.
Lucas and Sami kiss passionately in her room before he assures her that he was thinking about kissing her every second of every day in prison. He professes to love her and always has. “You’re the one who’s confused right now,” he notes. Sami states that it was because he left her and refused to see or talk to her. He claims he had no choice and did it for her. Sami cries how she thought he didn’t want her anymore. “You’re the love of my life. There will never be another you,” Lucas affirms. She is incredulous that they are standing there right now because she made a bad assumption. “But at least I didn’t shoot anyone!” she exclaims. He reminds her that he was driven insane by jealousy that night and had no choice, but he took responsibility for what he did. “Oh, Bravo! What do you want? A standing ovation now?” quips Sami. She professes to love him, but rehashes how he was gone and wanted her out of his life. He asks if she loves EJ, but she doesn’t answer.
They continue to argue as he reiterates if she’s in love with EJ, since she didn’t answer before. Sami claims she was offended by the question and he doesn’t know what she’s been through. He accuses her of wanting EJ to help her with the twins. “Why him?” he questions. Sami recounts how she and EJ were stuck together in a safe house to hide from Stefano. She rehashes how EJ was there for a sick Allie when Lucas wasn’t. Lucas asserts that he doesn’t want EJ anywhere near her.and affirms that he’s Allie’s father. Sami says she knows, but Allie shouldn’t have to suffer because of the insane acts of her father. “What about EJ’s insane acts, Mr. Rapist. That’s not insane?” counters Lucas. Sami yells how all three of them have done crazy things, and they’re extremely flawed human beings. However, the twins are what’s most important right now and they must figure out how to make things work so they can provide a healthy, happy environment for the kids. “Are you gonna try to take Allie away from me? Or are you willing to come back into your daughter’s life? Back into my life?” she questions. Lucas expresses how he wants to start over, but it’s going to be hard to erase the memory of seeing her in bed with EJ like that. “So you’re not ever going to be able to forgive me for one mistake?” she assumes. “I never told you to have sex with EJ,” he clarifies. Lucas strikes a nerve how he never told Sami to have sex with EJ the first time. Sami affirms that she did that to save Lucas’s life. Lucas, however, believes she could’ve found another way to take care of that since she’s a very resourceful person. He assumes that she wanted it from EJ the whole time. An appalled Sami opens the door and tells him to go. He leaves, and she leans against the door and sobs.
A distraught Sami later lies on the bed and fondles her wedding ring before Lucas re-enters. He apologizes for what he said earlier, stating that he was just lashing out. “Mission accomplished,” she responds. He re-professes how she’s all he ever thought about in prison and kept thinking what it would be like to come through the door, hold her, and make love to her all night. He states how he had no idea she was living there in the mansion with EJ, John, and the mad scientist Rolf. Sami questions what if it had been someone else she was in bed with. Lucas admits it would’ve still hurt, but it hurts more knowing that it’s EJ. Sami tries to assure him how much it tortured her to be apart from him. Lucas implores her to be honest with her and asks her if she has feelings for EJ. She confesses that she does, reminding him that she’s not the type of person to have sex with someone unless she has feelings for them. He proceeds to check on Allie. Sami tells him to stop, reminding him that she’s never stopped loving him. She affirms that EJ’s changed and has seen the good in him. She reminds Lucas how many times the two of them have forgiven each other and believes she owes it to herself to do the same for EJ. Lucas refers to EJ as a manipulative, destructive son of Stefano. Sami believes this is a bit hypocritical, rehashing how Lucas shot EJ and has been forgiven. She gets a phone call from Mickey, who called to confirm that Lucas never would’ve been free from prison if it hadn’t been for EJ’s help.
Sami relays how EJ made a statement, in which he held no animosity towards Lucas even though he shot EJ. Lucas deduces that EJ only did it in order to impress and soften Sami up even more. “Lucas, he didn’t seduce me. He didn’t trick me, and he didn’t manipulate me. I wanted him,” she confesses. An agitated Lucas wonders how she’s the victim and he’s the jerk all of a sudden, since he’s the one who caught her in bed with another man. She expresses how she knows she hurt him and reiterates how he didn’t want to see her, but EJ was helping her and was compassionate, patient, and understanding. “He was my rock!” she professes. Lucas doesn’t want to hear any of it. Sami yells how she was vulnerable and in a tough spot. Lucas is about to exit, but Sami stops him and begs him to listen. She admits to having feelings for EJ, but she insists they will go away if she and Lucas can start over. “Because no matter what, you Lucas, you are the love of my life. You always have been,” she declares. Sami pleads for a second chance with Lucas and takes his hand, expressing how much her heart melts when she looks at him. Lucas lets go of her hands and reminds her that she just told him she felt the same way about EJ. Sami clarifies that she has feelings for EJ because he’s changed. Lucas notes that Sami’s changed as well, accusing her of acting like a complete fool falling for his scam. “Once a DiMera, always a DiMera,” he states. Lucas doesn’t think they can get back together because she slept with the enemy. “It’s too late Sami. I can never forgive you for that. Never,” he says before walking out the door. Sami is left brokenhearted.
