After Kate leaves, Nick sits down with Chelsea and is eager to take Uncle Mickeys boat out to the Horton cabin and have a romantic picnic on the beach when shes well enough. Chelsea appears less than enthused by this idea. Nick then proposes they go out outside and jump into the hammock, but Chelsea isnt exactly jumping for joy at the thought. Nick says hes getting the feeling that she doesnt want him around, but Chelsea claims she just needs to rest and will call him when shes feeling better. Nick kisses her on the cheek and leaves. Afterwards, Chelsea phones Daniel.
In Avas room, Martino Vitali has come to see his daughter. The officer tries to tell him he has no right to be there, but he asserts that he has a court order stating otherwise. After the officer leaves the room, Martino and Steve exchange unfriendly greetings. Martino notes the restraints on Ava and asks if its necessary. Kayla insists that it is. Martino questions who she is. Im one of the doctors overseeing your daughters case. And one of the four unhappy people that were held at your compound recently, answers Kayla. Martino isnt thrilled with her being Avas doctor. Kayla demands to know why he put his daughter into the hands of a physician who made her unstable and dangerous. Martino denies knowing what shes talking about and claims that Ava was under the care of a very well respected physician who would never do her any harm. Kayla asserts that whoever was responsible for administering the medication wanted to make sure Ava would lose her mind.
Ava later experiences withdrawals as Martino tries to soothe her. She frighteningly asks her father whats wrong with her and why her doctor has been giving her the wrong medicine. Martino tries to assure her that hell find out if its a mistake. Ava cries how there was nothing wrong with her the whole time she was locked up. Martino implores her to blame Steve and promises to take care of Ava personally. Steve and Kayla notice that Ava pulls away from her father. A fearful Ava tells her daddy that shes under arrest, and shes not going home. Martino vows to get her home, then leaves. He goes outside the room and tells someone on the phone to just get it done. Steve watches him from afar.
Lexie thanks Daniel for all hes done, then questions if hes leaving Salem because he wants to catch a wave or because of Chelsea. Daniel denies leaving because of Chelsea. He receives a call from Chelsea, who hangs up. Lexie asks Daniel to stay.
Lexie later tells Ava that things are looking much better for her according to her chart. A sullen Ava asks where Patch and her father are. Lexie informs her that they all left and implores her to get some rest.
Nick later arrives at the pub and sits down with Max and Morgan. Morgan cant believe that Chelsea asked him to leave earlier. Max surmises that Chelsea needed some time to digest the fact that she cant have kids. He reveals that Stephanie just headed over to the Brady house to cheer Chelsea up. The threesome briefly discuss Chelseas infertility before Nick spills beer all over his grant papers. He runs out of the pub and Morgan chases after him. Philip follows her out and makes a crack about using her darts on Nick next time so he wont get away, which Morgan doesnt find particularly funny. Are you always such a drama queen? asks Philip.
Steph comes by the Brady house, where Chelsea admits she really cares for Nick, but couldnt deal with him at the moment. A beaming Steph implies that she and Max did the deed. Steph confesses that she cant imagine herself with anyone else. Chelsea admits she used to feel that way about Nick and confesses that shes in love with Daniel Jonas. Steph doesnt understand why Chelsea believes she cant have a future with Daniel. Chelsea deduces that its because he doesnt see her more than anything as a patient, since he was very professional and objective when he took himself off her case. Steph reveals that she spoke to Daniel after Chelsea called her. She predicts it will only be a matter of time before Daniel realizes how special Chelsea is.
After Steph leaves, Chelsea soon answers the door to Daniel, who announces that hes making one last house call before he leaves town for good. She invites him in, where he says hes off to catch a wave on the sunshine coast. She questions what kind of life is it to not stick around anywhere to establish any roots or develop any kind of relationship. Daniel claims he cant stick around Salem, although hed love to. He asks her to tell Bo and Hope that he said goodbye. He walks out the door, but stops himself. He comes back in and kisses Chelsea before leaving.
Kate later meets Martino at the pub, where he hugs her and marvels how good it is to see her, noting how gorgeous she looks. The years have been very kind to you, Marty, she notes. He admits shes the only one who ever called him that. He asks if theyre going to get together for dinner at the hotel later, but shes reluctant. He promises no strings, just a couple of friends catching up. She agrees, although she appears uneasy in his presence. She admits she had a really horrible experience earlier when she stumbled onto a murder scene. Martino feigns surprise and wonders if she knows anything about it. She says no, although the police questioned her. He jokes with her and remembers how she always knew the right thing to say to her. That was my job, remember? she recalls. Kate has a meeting to get to and proceeds to leave. He offers to walk her to her car.
Max later cleans up Nicks mess and looks over the work his friend left behind. Steph approaches Max and seductively asks for a burger, then notes that Max is looking at Nicks notebook. She wonders what hes doing to it. Max claims hes just fixing it and wants to help out his friend. Kayla takes a quick glance at the notes and doubts she can figure it out, even though she went to medical school. Steph assures him that she supports him one hundred percent.
