Mr. Mob Boss and His Posse

By , About.com Guide

At the Brady house, Chelsea sleeps on the couch and mutters Daniel’s name while Bo is present. Bo quietly brings a tray of juice and coffee back into the living room when Chelsea wakes up. He implores her to go upstairs to bed. She smiles how she needs a flavored coffee at the Java Café and is eager to get out. Bo urges her to promise that she’ll stay inside and take care of herself. Chelsea agrees and tries to assure him that he doesn’t need to worry. Bo questions what she was dreaming about, but she says she doesn’t remember. Chelsea questions why he’s dressed up for work. “Cause I’m going in,” states Bo. “No, I don’t think so,” chuckles Chelsea, stating that Hope asked her to make sure he stays home and rests. Bo agrees to sit down and wants to hear more about her dream. Morgan arrives with coffee and breakfast treats. Bo quickly leaves for work. Chelsea admits she’s worried about her dad, since he still blames himself for the infertility ordeal. She doesn’t understand why Bo keeps beating himself up over it and worries that he’ll never be able to move on from it.

Morgan and Chelsea later sit on the couch enjoying their pastry. Morgan assures Chelsea that she can relate with everything her father’s going through. Chelsea has a brief flashback to kissing Daniel.

At the Brady Pub, Kate dines with Martino and remarks how it’s almost like old times, although he’s changed a bit with the designer suits and personal security. Martino points out that it’s because of her. “You made me wanna be a better man,” he admits. Kate recalls how he was married and his wife had a big influence on him. Martino's goon escorts an uneasy Daniel over to Martino, who introduces himself. Daniel rants how he missed his flight because he was informed of a personal consultation with a colleague. Martino requests for Daniel to look into Ava’s case. Kate reveals that she told Martino about Daniel. Martino assures Daniel that he’ll be well compensated for his time. Daniel refuses to take her case or stay in Salem. Kate implores him to at least hear “Marty” out. Martino shares how worried he is about Ava and pleads with Daniel to help her. Daniel sits down and asks what’s wrong with her. Martino claims that Ava has unknowingly ingested drugs for years with extreme side effects, like anxiety and paranoia. He explains how they were prescribed by her psychiatrist and thought they would make her better. Daniel wonders why Ava’s doctor would do that. “Because I paid him extremely well, and he’s got the ethics of a sewer rat," Martino answers. Martino’s concerned about the long-term side effects the drugs have on her and wants Daniel to look into her case. Daniel says no to Martino and insists that Ava needs the help of a psychiatrist. Martino thanks Daniel for his time and apologizes for the inconvenience, but says he’ll make it worth his while. Daniel tells him to keep his money and storms out. Kate goes after him and tells him to wait.

Meanwhile, Steph enters the pub and approaches Max, who has been working all night on Nick’s grant proposal. She sounds surprised when he reveals that he fixed Nick’s proposal and wonders how in the world he did it. Max claims he just cleaned up the proposal by copying it. Steph is startled when Max blurts out what low-volume energy density means. Max puts the proposal in an envelope and asks her to mail it and doesn’t want Nick to know he redid his work. “Just promise me you won’t tell Nick about any of this,” implores Max. “Promise what?” questions Nick as he arrives. Max claims he was just asking Steph to promise to hang out with him tonight as Steph hides the proposal behind her back. After Steph leaves, Nick apologizes to Max for dumping his problems on him regarding Chelsea. Max tells him not to worry about it. Nick asks Max if he’s seen his grant project. Max stammers and hides the notebook, then lies about not seeing his proposal. Steph quickly arrives back, claiming she got her days all mixed up on her work schedule. Nick asks if she’s seen his grant proposal, but Steph innocently asks where he left it last. He moans how he’ll have to start from scratch, especially considering that he spilled beer all over it. After he heads over to the Brady house to see Chelsea, Steph confirms that she mailed the proposal. A confused Steph implores Max to tell her what’s going on with the proposal.

Outside the pub, Kate implores Daniel to reconsider taking Ava’s case because she doesn’t believe Martino’s daughter should be penalized for his shortcomings. Daniel questions how well Kate knows Martino. Kate reluctantly admits she knew him a long time ago, and he loves his daughter and would do anything to ensure that she gets the help she needs. Daniel affirms that he’s a physician and Martino’s daughter needs a psychiatrist. Kate urges him to refer Martino to a shrink, but Daniel refuses because he doesn’t trust the guy and doesn’t want Chelsea mixed up with “Mr. Mob Boss and his posse.” Kate concludes that Daniel cares about Chelsea more than he should and wonders if that’s the reason he’s leaving Salem. Daniel denies having feelings for Chelsea, but Kate isn’t buying it and suspects that he’s scared of his feelings. Daniel claims he’s leaving town because his work is done in Salem. He asks Kate to be careful with Martino, then leaves.

Abe approaches Lexie at the hospital, where Lexie insists they start counseling as soon as possible. Abe questions when they will talk to Marlena, but Lexie suggests they talk to someone whom they don’t know. Roman joins them, where Lexie reveals that she’s discharging Ava Vitali and releasing her into police custody. She states that the drugs which were causing her anxiety and disorientation are completely out of her system. “It’s my professional opinion that Ava Vitali is medically fit to face the consequences of her actions,” declares Lexie.

Roman enters Ava’s room, where Lexie hands him a copy of Ava’s release form. Ava is dressed and sits in a chair, appearing to be in a catatonic state. Roman informs her that he’s going to take her down to the police station for booking. The officer wheels her out.
