Daytime veteran and Emmy-nominated actor Roscoe Born is joining the DAYS cast as Dean Robbins beginning Tuesday, May 29th, as reported by Soap Opera Digest Online. Word is that Dean will have a connection to a current Salem resident.
Mr. Born is no stranger to soaps, as hes portrayed a number of sinister characters, including Mitch Lawrence on One Life to Live, Tom Fisher on The Young and the Restless, Jim Thomasen on All My Children, and most recently the prison warden on Passions. Additionally, he played dual rules on NBCs former soap Santa Barbara as Quinn Armitage and his twin brother Robert Barr, which earned him an Emmy nomination back in 1990 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He was also on the Emmy-Award winning soap Ryans Hope as Joe Novak and made appearances on As the World Turns, Guiding Light, The City, and the short-lived primetime soap Paper Dolls back in 1984.
This isnt his first time on DAYS, as fans may recall that Mr. Born was one of the many veteran soap stars who made a special-guest appearance back in February of 2001 at Greta Von Amburgs coronation, where he portrayed Baron Coe. Greta was previously portrayed by Julianne Morris from 1998 until 2002.
Its undetermined at this time just how long Roscoe will be sticking around DAYS or what his character has in store for the beloved residents of Salem, but I have no doubt this actor will definitely make his mark on the show. Kudos to DAYS for luring such talented, experienced, well-known stars such as Roscoe Born and Joe Penny. It will be exciting to see what DAYS has in store for the character of Dean Robbins and to see just who he interacts with!
