John and Tony fall into Tony's underground Zen-lair and go toe-to-toe in a sword fight. It looks as if John has killed the Count with a dagger, but Tony has the last laugh and hits the switch to detonate the island volcano once and for all.

At sea, John, Marlena, and Roman are on a raft. John is in bad shape and can't feel his legs. Marlena is worried that he could be paralyzed. Roman swims off to check on the others. Alone, Marlena tells John if she had really been dead, she would have liked to have seen him move on with Kate.

Out at sea, the volcanic eruption causes a powerful underwater earthquake, creating a killer tidal wave. All the island refugees are feared dead. The coast guard rushes to the scene and finds several bodies in the water and incredibly, there are some survivors. Marlena, risking her own life, saved John by strapping him to a raft.

Sami goes to the hospital for her pre-wedding blood test. Kate goes to tell Sami about her parents but Sami does not want to hear anything from Kate. Sami points out Kate's plan to bring Brandon back to Salem was a flop; Celeste's prediction that Sami's future will be ruined will not come true. Kate smiles smugly and tells Sami there is someone upstairs on the second floor she should see. Sami goes up to have a look and sees Brandon.
