At Lucas and Sami’s, Belle tells Lucas how adorable the twins are and mentions how overwhelming caring for them must be. Lucas claims that Sami helps when she’s actually there. Belle asks permission to hang out and admits she’s unnerved without her cell phone, which is still at Bo and Hope’s. She picks up a stuffed tiger and notes how cute it is unti Lucas reveals that it's from EJ. She then rambles how life never works out the way one normally hopes it will.
Lucas later brings a refreshment for Belle as they discuss her recent wedding. He believes she should be on her honeymoon, but she claims they can’t afford it at the present time. He poses a hypothetical question to Belle and wonders how she would feel if Shawn was running between her and another woman. “Or better yet how would Shawn feel if he found out that you were seeing another man?” he questions. A guilty Belle claims she doesn’t know what she’d do. Lucas then describes baby Ail as quiet with a mischievous look in her eye and Johnny as strong and kicking all the time. Belle chuckles and surmises that Lucas is really bonding with them. Lucas admits his fear that Ali will end up as the poor relation. Belle refers to Sami as a he!!raiser when it comes to her kids and insists that Sami’s sacrificing everything. Lucas surmises that Sami has fallen in love with EJ, but Belle highly doubts it and tries to assure Lucas that Sami has always loved him. He vows to protect the babies from the DiMeras. He poses another hypothetical question to Belle and wonders if Shawn would ever be tempted to cheat on her. Belle theorizes that Shawn wouldn’t and that’s not who he is. “We both know who Sami is. The one who keeps secrets,” rehashes Lucas. “We all have secrets,” admits Belle. She then has a brief flashback to making love with Philip. “Maybe Sami’s just feeling a bit lost. Like Shawn will be there for her no matter what,” surmises a preoccupied Belle. Lucas notes she said Shawn instead of him. Belle chuckles and claims she was just thinking about her new hubby. Before she leaves, she mentions how she tried to phone Brady on Thanksgiving, but he never returned her calls. She advises Lucas to just remember that it’s as hard on Sami as it is on him.
At Bo and Hope’s house, Bo confronts Marlena about being at Sami and EJ’s wedding and questions if she put a bullet in his spine. She denies being at the wedding and claims she was baby-sitting Claire at the time. She suggests he call Roman, since the two of them spoke on the phone before the incident. Hope interrupts and requests to speak to Bo alone. Bo informs Hope that he has a witness who mentioned that the woman in black was Marlena. Hope tries to discourage Bo from his questioning, but he suggests it’s better to question her there than at the station. He then tells Marlena about the witness who said there was a woman dressed in mourning at the church. She admits she came there looking for some dear friends and expresses her hurt that she’s being interrogated for attempted murder and denies being at the wedding. Bo questions if she has a black dress. She reminds him that she wore one at John’s funeral. He brings up the collection of guns John has. “Do you think as long as you’ve known me that I would really seriously try to kill EJ?” asks a defensive Marlena. “I need for you to prove to me that you didn’t,” insists Bo. Marlena implores him to show her a search warrant and assures him that she won’t skip town.
After Marlena leaves, Bo notes how defensive she was. Hope defends their friend, reminding Bo that she’s devastated over losing John. Bo states that he was trying to get Marlena worked up enough so she would go home and dispose of the evidence. Hope assumes that he’ll be there to catch Marlena in the act, which he confirms as his plan.
Roman pays Bo and Hope a visit with information on the DiMera shooting. He reveals that his team found evidence near the church. Bo and Roman make a beeline for the area.
Philip approaches a working Shawn at the pub and badgers him about not being on his honeymoon after his recent wedding. He offers to back off Belle and extends his hand to Shawn, offering his best wishes and reminding him that they’ve been good friends for years. “Those times are gone,” declares Shawn. Philip recalls a swim team match they had back in high school. Shawn agrees it was fun, but states that he prefers the present with Belle and Claire and suggests that Philip move on.
Belle later arrives back at the pub and approaches a preoccupied Philip at the bar. He hands her a note and says he left her a message yesterday. She informs him that she left her cell phone at Bo and Hope’s house and went by to pick it up, but nobody was home. She tells him not to call her again, then walks behind the bar. Phil then queries where her new husband is. Belle reveals that Shawn went with Bo on a case, according to the note. Philip then proposes a way for her to make it up to Shawn, since she’s the one who almost sabotaged his chances with the academy. “Give me one good reason why I should trust you,” implores Belle. Philip secretly reveals that he has in his possession a piece of evidence which could blow the EJ DiMera case wide open. He suggests using the evidence to make Shawn look like supercop. Belle questions what’s in it for Philip. “An evening alone with you,” he replies. Belle tells him to take his evidence, proposal, and watch and shove them all. She surmises that he doesn’t give a d@mn about Shawn’s career and is only using the evidence to coerce her into bed with him. He insists he just wants to be with her and continues his persuasion tactics. She claims she can’t but appears tempted nonetheless. He tells her to call if she changes her mind.
In EJ’s hospital room, he tells Sami that it’s time for Stefano to meet the boy, but she absolutely refuses and wonders if EJ’s becoming delusional. She complains how busy she is caring for her newborns and running relays between them and her new husband. She then reveals that Lucas is fighting for custody of Ali and rehashes how someone tried to kill them at the church.
