DiMera Mansion
E.J. snuggles next to Nicole and asks if she’s ready for her surprise. Nicole teases how she has a surprise which involves handcuffs, only not on her. E.J. is stunned to see the front page of the paper showing Nick Fallon as Trent’s murder. He and Nicole are relieved that she’s off the hook and share a kiss. She is eager to know what her surprise is, but he smiles and proceeds to warm her up by kissing her. E.J. continues to tease her about her surprise,then pulls out a box for her to open. She finds a note which says, “Your bags have been packed for romance and sin. Go upstairs and your journey will begin,” Nicole is intrigued as E.J. states his intentions to have romantic weekend with the mother of his child, who also happens to be somebody whom he adores. He suggests a cozy cabin at a luxurious resort. An eager Nicole assures him she’ll be back in five minutes ready to go.
E.J. is annoyed to find Stefano standing there. Stefano tells Elvis he’ll have to postpone his romantic getaway, since something has come up which requires his presence. “What could possibly be so urgent?” questions E.J. Nicole reemerges and is surprised to see Stefano. She thanks him for a lovely dinner last night. Stefano claims that something has come up and he and E.J. have urgent business to attend to, putting a damper in their plans. E.J. brings Nicole into the foyer and apologizes for having to delay their rendevous. He hands her the directions to the lodge along with the confirmation number and encourages to go there. She asks if he’s really going to be there tonight. “Wild horses will not keep me away,” he replies before kissing her. Nicole thanks him for being so sweet. E.J. believes it’s about time they really got to know each other and he wants it to be the most memorable weekend for them.
Weekend Getaway
Nicole later arrives at the luxurious cabin and marvels how beautiful it is. The bellboy recites the amenities and she hands him a tip and thanks him. She tells her baby what an incredible daddy he or she has. She pulls out a sexy neglige, then finds a note on the table from E.J. along with some treats. “How did I get so lucky?” she smiles.
Back at the DiMera Mansion
E.J. leaves Nicole a message asking her to give him a call, then hangs up intent on going up to the cabin. He berates himself for letting Stefano spoil his romantic weekend. Stefano tells him he has his priorities screwed up. “My priorities are Nicole and our baby!” affirms E.J. “To provide for Nicole and that baby,” clarifies Stefano. E.J. laments not going up to the cabin with Nicole, admitting he’s frustrated. He wants to know exactly what Stefano needs him to do. Stefano assures him that he’ll fill him in on the plane. “Where are we going?” yells E.J. “Argentina,” replies Stefano. E.J. demands to know what the hell is in Argentina. Stefano assures him that he’ll find out soon enough. An irritated E.J. agrees to go with him and intends to call Nicole and let her know he’s not coming.
Back at the Cabin
Nicole is dressed in her animal print neglige eating chocolate when E.J. calls. He reveals that he’s still at the mansion and breaks the news that he needs to go on a business trip with Stefano to Argentina. He apologizes, insisting that he took the job for their future. He promises to make it up to her and encourages her to relax. She intends to head back, since the place is meant for two. She soon loses connection with him, then hangs up. “I was gonna say I love you,” she mutters. She then begins to feel cramping. She later prepares to head back home, but has severe abdominal cramping and fears she’s losing the baby.
Back at the mansion, E.J. tries to call Nicole again, but Stefano urges him to do it later and come with him.
Safe House
Sami has a newspaper and is surprised to see that Nick is Trent’s murderer. Rafe assures her that she now has one less thing to worry about, in that her son isn’t living with a murderer after all. Sami grumbles how her son is still living with Stefano DiMera while she’s stuck in the “hamster cage.” “Gee, not like you to complain,” quips Rafe. Sami goes on a rant about how the FBI is useless when it comes to catching the mayor’s killer. Rafe questions where she would go if the FBI did catch the killer and she could get out of there today. Sami doesn’t know, but she continues to complain about how the safe house sucks and still insists that E.J. and Stefano can never find out about the baby. She implores him to open the window so she doesn’t have to breathe the nasty stale air. He refuses to comply. A fed up Sami proceeds to open the drapes and she doesn’t care what he says. Rafe grabs her arm and warns her that she’s making him really angry right now. She implores him to let her go, but he refuses until she calms down and promises to stay away from the window. He answers his phone, then reveals to Sami that the lead they had got cold. Sami sighs and goes on a childish tirade about being stuck there and not being able to see other people. She begins to cry, not knowing how much longer she can take it. Rafe previews that they could be stuck there together for a very long time.
Sami rants how she doesn’t even know if she can even make it through the next day. Rafe tells her she can either go on whining and crying like a baby or make the best of things. She drinks pickle juice out of the jar as he tries to assure her that she has nothing to do there except kick back and relax. Sami mocks how she should be grateful and appreciative, complaining how the “hotel” has no amenities, no room service and a really obnoxious staff. Rafe sarcastically points out the fabulous colored TV. Sami throws a temper tantrum and yells how all he ever watches is stupid, lame, and uninteresting football. Rafe thanks her for reminding him and turns the TV on to a game, to Sami’s annoyance.
