Nick and Chelsea later go back to the sorority house and cuddle on the couch in front of the fire. Chelsea reflects on all the times Nick had protected and saved her and made her feel special. “I’m trying to tell you that you’re a hero, Nick Fallon, and I love you for that,” she smiles. They share a warm kiss. Max and Morgan emerge and interrupt their make-out session. Max jokingly suggest they come up for air. “Don’t you have something better to do?” hints Chelsea. Max and Morgan then head upstairs together. Chelsea implores Nick stay, but he claims he needs to face his empty apartment sooner or later. She offers to come with him, but he politely declines. She tells him to call and shares one last kiss with him before he leaves. She then invites him to the sorority’s Halloween party and jokes about being the devil. “Well maybe um, I’ll wear my collar and we can break a few commandments,” he jokes. She hugs him one last time as Nick beams with happiness.
Back at the crime scene, Billie later declares to Jett that they’re done there and suggests they head back to campus. Jett asks Billie if Chelsea’s mentioned him at all. “Mentioned you how?” wonders Billie. Jett surmises that he’s done something to tick Chelsea off. Billie advises Jett to talk to her again and offers to treat him to breakfast.
At the Salem Inn, insomniac Steve peers out the window as he and Kayla reflect on losing John, Benjy, and Pocket-Man. Kayla assures him that he’s not going to lose her. They share a brief smooch and cuddle, then hear a noise at the door. Steve proceeds to check it out and tells Kayla to dial 911 just in case. He then tells Kayla to hold off on the cops since he nabbed their thief. They are surprised to see an upset Stephanie in the middle of the night, who claims her life is a mess and had nowhere else to go. Kayla embraces her daughter.
Steph later sits down as Kayla encourages her to open up. Steve leaves the gals to have some girl talk. Steph then confesses that she went to a party tonight and made out with a total stranger who had his hands all over her. Steph claims she was cool with it, but Kayla doubts she was cool with it, because Stephanie would be in the guy’s bed right now instead of talking to her. Kayla encourages her to stop beating herself up and spill what she’s gotten herself into. Stephanie admits she did it because of Max and ran into the first good time she could find. Kayla wonders if she was supposed to be at the sorority house tonight. “I was until the Max and Morgan show started,” replies Stephanie, who is convinced that Morgan will end up breaking Max’s heart. Kayla insists that she can’t fix things with Max if he really doesn’t want to fix them.
Kayla later fetches some water and pills for Steph and tells her she doesn’t have to move back into the sorority house. She tries to assure her that she’ll meet another guy, but Steph insists she doesn’t want another guy. Stephanie then asks if she can shower and change and says she’ll call first before she drops by in the middle of the night next time. Steve then enters and announces that Kayla has a page, which Kayla proceeds to answer in the other room. Stephanie apologizes for not being a better daughter, but Steve refers to her as a perfect daughter. Steve claims he may be able to help out with a “dude named Maxwell.” He implies that Adrienne’s place has been pretty busy since the auction and is short of help. He suggests she work side by side with Max at the Cheatin’ Heart. “Where I get to watch him flirt with more girls than just Morgan,” whines Stephanie. “Or, maybe he’ll realize that the one standing next to him, the beautiful girl, meaning you, slinging the beer is the one that he wants,” Steve playfully suggests. Steph predicts that Max will know it’s a set-up. Steve proposes they make it sound like it was Aunt Adrienne’s idea. Stephanie then apologizes for how she handled the Jeremy situation and expresses remorse for how badly she treated her parents throughout the ordeal. Steve encourages her to forget about it and move on. Stephanie admits she wishes she was more like Kayla, since she wouldn’t let people push her around. Steve claims it took years for Kayla to become the woman she is and making mistakes is part of being human. Kayla then enters and asks if everything’s okay. Steve invites their daughter to stick around for breakfast and proceeds to fetch Kayla a cup of coffee. Kayla encourages Stephanie to take a leap of faith and start over with someone new.
Kayla and Stephanie later lie in bed together and briefly ponder Stephanie’s future before Steve joins them. He reveals that he spoke to Adrienne, who wondered if Stephanie would be interested in helping out at the Cheatin’ Heart. Kayla is surprised that Steve got a message from Adrienne this morning. Steph proceeds to take a shower. Kayla refers to Steve as a hopeless romantic as she suspects a set-up. Steve questions what Stephanie was crying about, but Kayla doesn’t disclose many details. They proceed to get amorous under the covers. Meanwhile, Stephanie peers out the window and cries how Max will never forgive her after last night.
