Marlena meets Bo and Hope at the pub. While Bo fetches drinks for the ladies, Hope asks Marlena how she’s doing. “I’m up, I’m breathing, I’m putting one foot in front of the other foot,” replies Marlena. Hope notes the shopping bag and questions what Marlena bought. Marlena reveals that she bought a scrapbook so she could put all the pictures of John and the family in the album and thus feel close to John. Hope offers to help out with the project, but Marlena claims she needs to do it herself. Marlena admits she stopped by St. Luke’s earlier and prayed that nobody they loved would ever be taken away before their time. She reflects upon all the things she misses about John, like falling asleep on his shoulder, watching TV with him, and lacing hands together as they fell asleep at night. Hope assures her that they’re going to find his killer. “We know who killed him,” states Marlena, who advises Hope to take her husband and children and get as far away as possible. “This is our home,” affirms Hope. “Your home is as far away from Stefano as you can possibly get,” counters Marlena, who speculates that if she would’ve gotten John out of town, he’d be alive right now.
Bo comes back to the table and states that John lived his life on his terms, referring to John as fearless and determined. Bo insists they can’t run, otherwise Stefano wins. Marlena requests for Bo to stop Sami’s upcoming nuptials from happening. Hope insists that Lucas will never agree to the divorce. Marlena isn’t sure he needs to with a Dominican divorce. She states that if John were there, he would find some way to stop the wedding. “I’ll have to do it for him,” implies Bo. They discuss the Sami situation briefly before Bo leaves to go find Sami and talk to her. Marlena proposes another way to protect Sami. “Kill EJ Wells,” she utters. The doc spooks Hope when she confesses that ever since John died she’s been fantasizing about ways to kill EJ. “The alibi, the weapon of choice, the way to cover my own tracks,” she adds. Marlena states that as a doctor, it’s natural to have feelings of revenge when someone you love dies in a violent way. She admits that she had feelings of revenge last year when John was shot. Hope tries to assure Marlena that her thoughts will go away. Marlena reminds Hope that she’s a psychiatrist, and thus knows how to set up an insanity plea. “The grieving widow, the breaking point, sleep deprived, terrified, terrified that her children, and her grandchildren are in grave danger,” Marlena cryptically previews. Hope tells her to stop it, since Marlena’s not a violent person. “You need to listen to Roman and Bo,” urges Hope. “No. I don’t trust them anymore,” admits Marlena. Hope offers to get her something to eat, but Marlena pounds on the table and balks at the idea. “The DiMeras understand one kind of justice. I’m hoping for the courage to give it to them,” she says.
Sami and Lucas prepare to leave the hospital. Sami informs him that she called the airline tonight so they could fly to Santo Domingo to obtain their divorce. Lucas of course is not exactly doing the happy dance upon hearing this news. Sami reminds him that they need to get divorced so she can marry EJ. “ “No matter what happens you are not going to lose me,” she assures him. Belle interrupts and mentions how gorgeous the babies are. Lucas leaves the ladies to talk.
Belle presents her with onesies, which Sami appreciates but claims that Belle didn’t have to do since money’s tight. Sami says she’s having a hard time convincing Lucas that she’s not leaving him for EJ. Belle hypothetically asks how Sami would feel if Lucas was marrying someone else. “I’d kill her,” replies Sami. Sami then changes the subject to their mom and Belle’s wedding plans. Belle demurs that she needs some good advice, then confesses that she slept with Philip. Sami is astonished and asks where Belle did the deed. Belle claims it doesn’t matter, then reveals that it happened in her room over the pub. Sami is shocked, since she thought Belle was over Philip. Belle claims that Philip’s changed and wasn’t bullying or manipulating her and has feelings for her. She admits she cares for Philip but loves Shawn and insists that sleeping with Phil was a stupid mistake which will never happen again. Sami advises Belle to make that absolutely clear to Philip and to never tell Shawn, no matter how guilty she feels. Belle hesitates before she reveals that Hope also knows. Sami is horrified that Belle didn’t deny it to Hope. “Have I taught you nothing?” she asks. Belle relays Hope’s promise to keep mum if Belle stayed away from Philip, then whines how she loves Shawn and wants them to be a family. Sami questions what Belle will do if, for example, she and Philip are stuck together in a hotel room. Belle reminds her that they were, but nothing happened. Sami recites a list of possible scenarios in order to make sure Belle knows what she really wants or who she really wants. “Shawn is everything to me,” Belle professes. Sami urges her to stay as far away from Philip as possible. “I don’t want to lose him as a friend. Claire adores him,” whines Belle. “Claire already has a father, and Philip is not your friend. He is your lover,” asserts Sami, who warns Belle that she’ll lose Shawn for good unless she lays down the law with Philip.
Kate meets EJ outside by her car and blasts him for showing up late. EJ claims he needed to gather some supplies and assures a nervous Kate that Lucas won’t find out about their plan. She asks what kind of supplies he brought. “The lethal kind Darling,” he smiles wickedly as he displays his gun. EJ instructs her to step away from the car, then implies that he’s going to shoot a round of bullets into her car so that Lucas will think she’s been targeted by an assassin. He then fires away at her car.
After the damage is done, a peeved Kate demands that EJ buy her a new car. EJ and Kate go over their fake scenario, in which she was driving her car and another car drove up next to her, then she decked upon seeing the gun. Shots rang out, the window smashed, then the driver sped off.
