I'm Having Your Baby

By Gwen Morett, About.com

Nicole sits at the Brady Pub bar when Pete apologizes for the delay on the takeout. Nicole says it’s no problem, since she already ate and her takeout is just a snack. She lets it slip that she’s eating for two, then quickly covers. Sami approaches her and makes a crack about Nicole starting her day off with a Vodka Tonic. Nicole states she’s having a club soda. Sami requests a table from Pete while she waits for her parents, but the only seat available is one by Nicole at the bar. Sami mutters how her ankles are swollen the size of cantaloupes. Nicole implores her to take a load off, and wonders if it’s just her or if Sami has gained weight. Sami gets touchy and says no, then suggests that her rival could stand to gain weight and be hormonal, but it wouldn’t change the fact she’s a witch. Lisa the waitress presents steamed clams at the bar, asking who ordered them. Both Nicole and Sami run off feeling nauseous.

Outside the pub, Roman asks Marlena if she’s still going through with the divorce. Marlena admits that she doesn’t want to, since she still loves John. She is hoping E.J. can talk some sense into getting John to see a doctor. They express concern for Sami, noting how it’s usually serious when she asks to talk to both of them.

Nicole and Sami return to the bar. Nicole claims she needed to get some air and blames her sickness on Caroline’s bad clams. Sami blames her nausea on Nicole’s cheap perfume. They tell each other to go to hell before Sami runs into her parents.

Sami sits with Roman and Marlena and says she didn’t want to say anything in front of Nicole, the nosey busybody. Roman wonders if there’s something she’s trying to hide. Sami flashes back to finding the rattle in the diaper bag, then claims she asked them to the pub because she misses them so much. She brings up Caroline’s arrest and points the finger at Nicole for Trent’s murder, stating that she has every motive in the world for murdering him because she wanted to get Victor’s divorce settlement. Roman knows better and implores Sami to tell them the real reason she asked to see them. Marlena wonders if she’s done something wrong, assuring Sami that they are there to help and listen. Sami believes she shouldn’t have called them, and the less they know the better. She finally admits that she’s in trouble and needs them to tell her what to do.

Sami beats around the bush and hypothetically asks what if you know something that you should tell to someone whom you love, even though it might hurt someone else. A confused Roman wonders what she’s talking about. Sami claims that’s all she can tell them. Marlena insists it’s not ever okay to keep secrets. Sami rehashes Marlena's affair with John, then quickly apologizes for bringing it up, claiming that sometimes it’s appropriate NOT to tell the person whom you love. Marlena admits she made a mistake many years ago and advises Sami to tell the person the truth. “Even if it could destroy an innocent life?” asks Sami. They urge her to spill. Sami agrees to tell them, but urges them to swear not to say anything to anyone. They’re not comfortable making that promise, reminding her that they have reasons to feel the way they do. Marlena rehashes how Sami has kept secrets which have hurt people. Sami insists that she’s doing something out of love, but she can’t say anymore.

Marlena notes how Sami talked about an innocent child and wonders if she’s talking about one of the twins. Roman questions if it’s Johnny, knowing how Sami worries about Stefano’s influence over him. Sami says it’s not about Johnny and apologizes for wasting their time. Marlena assures her that they love her and will help her any way they can. “But we won’t lie for you, and we won’t keep silent if somebody else gets hurt by it,” affirms Roman. Sami proceeds to tell this certain person the news before he hears it from someone else. She thanks them and runs out. Marlena surmises that Sami’s news has to do with E.J.

John sits and drinks at the DiMera mansion when he flashes back to Marlena urging him to go to the hospital and have some tests run. E.J. enters the living room and asks him how he’s feeling. A hostile John tells him to go away, but E.J. mentions how he promised Marlena he would speak to John. John implores him to have this conversation with Marlena’s attorney if it has to do with the divorce. “It is due to the fact that she loves you,” clarifies E.J. John disagrees that Blondie loves him, since she wants out of the marriage. E.J. affirms to John that Marlena doesn’t believe he cares enough about her to get some help, which is why she wants out of the marriage. He encourages John to get some help, assuring him that he knows why he doesn’t like hospitals after being held prisoner in Stefano’s lab. A conflicted John says he’s not afraid. E.J. warns him how serious Marlena is about going through with the divorce. John asks if E.J. can do anything to stop the divorce or buy a little time until Marlena comes to her senses. E.J. clarifies that he’s there as John’s friend, not as his attorney. John asserts that there’s not a doctor in this world who can cure what he has. He declares that he’s had it with being poked and prodded by doctors.

E.J. believes John is being very foolish. He continues to try and convince John to seek some help for Marlena, but John still refuses. E.J. admits he feels sorry for John, since Stefano not only took away his memories, but also took away the part that makes him human. He refers to John as some kind of machine, not a man. John believes his old persona is gone and is never coming back. E.J. tries to convince him that Marlena doesn’t think he’s a lost cause. “She does now,” says John as he holds up the divorce papers. E.J. tells him to forget about the papers and urges him to go see a doctor for a woman who loves him more than anything. He offers to call Kayla to set something up. “I said no!” yells John, who urges him to mind his own business. “You really are completely devoid of any compassion, aren’t you?” sneers E.J. before he walks out. A conflicted John sits back down and calls his new BFF Nicole.
