According to this week’s spoilers, Sami will make the heartbreaking decision to divorce Lucas so she can marry EJ Wells and thus end the lifelong DiMera/Brady vendetta. She will insist it will be a loveless marriage and it’s strictly in order to save the family from the dastardly DiMeras. This should make Ejami fans happy regardless, since it’s become apparent that Sami does indeed have feelings for EJ which she can’t even admit to herself. I knew I would eventually write a commentary about the hottest triangle to hit DAYS in years. In case you’re wondering whether the new Guide is a “Lumi” or “Ejami” fan, I’m here to declare that I always have been and always will be a passionately devoted Lumi fan., and I’m prepared to take the heat and backlash from all the loyal Ejami fans out there.
EJ is very sexy and charming, I’ll give him that. However, I cannot fathom why in the world the writers would remotely consider pairing EJ with Sami after all the unforgivable crimes he has committed. Sure, EJ and Sami have loads of oozing chemistry, but have we already forgotten that EJ forced Sami to succumb to his sexual advances in order to save Lucas’s life? How about when he pulled a gun on Sami and forced her to help him get through the police roadblock? Let’s not forget that he also shot John Black, the kindhearted man who raised Sami as a child for years. He also poisoned Steve and Kayla last year with a rare biotoxin when he masqueraded as the mysterious gloved hand, rigged Max and Stephanie’s cars to explode in a race, beat the “you know what” out of Patrick Lockhart, killed Officer Eve Michaels, kicked a pregnant Willow out of the YWCA, tortured and brainwashed Steve Johnson, and even threatened the good DiMera son Benjy. In addition, he also forced Steve to take John’s kidney. Did I leave anything else out? Granted, I wasn’t exactly a big fan of Willow like many DAYS devotees, but I didn’t think she deserved to be rendered homeless in her condition. Will the Salem P.D. ever be able to pin these horrible crimes on Elvis Junior DiMera? It’s as though EJ is allowed to get away with murder just because he’s handsome, charming, and could sell the most unattractive tomato at the grocery store because he doesn’t exactly take no for an answer. Sure, EJ has expressed remorse for forcing Sami to have sex with him that horrific night, but has he apologized or even admitted to shooting John, nearly killing Steve and Kayla, brainwashing and torturing Steve, or any other his other crimes? No! We know Sami has committed her share of sins, but she has expressed remorse for all of them, which is the main difference between her and EJ. I can appreciate what he’s trying to do to help Sami end the vendetta once and for all, but I can’t forget the crimes he’s already committed which he hasn’t even owned up to. Let’s not forget that EJ recently locked Lucas up in the delivery truck freezer. My prediction is that something’s going to hit the fan once Sami discovers that EJ tried to make a popsicle out of her husband.
It’s no secret that Lucas has committed murder, when he shot and killed Franco Kelly right before his wedding to Sami. However, that was self-defense since Franco was just about to hit Kate over the head with a fireplace poker. It was horrible that Sami nearly died of lethal injection because Kate framed her for murder and Lucas kept quiet, but Lucas and Sami have owned up to all of their mistakes and gotten past them together, finally growing up and realizing that they’ve loved each other all of their lives. EJ has not fessed up to anything except what he has done to Sami.
I have loved Lucas and Sami since 1993, when Lucas first appeared on Sami’s doorstep as a military brat ready to take her to her high school dance. I wanted them to get together even when she was with Austin and Brandon. The spark between these two during their love/hate tumultuous relationship has been eminently brewing for years. Like Lucas has said, they love, laugh, and fight harder than anyone else. These two could never be boring together, as evidenced by their constant playfulness when they’re not arguing about the vendetta. Sure, Lucas has become quite bossy and demanding when it comes to Sami, but he’s only doing whatever he can to keep the woman he loves safe from harm. Another major reason why I love Lucas and Sami together is because he has the ability to make her laugh. When does she ever laugh with EJ? Call me crazy, but I love seeing laughter and humor on soaps. My screen heats up every time Lucas and Sami are getting amorous together.
Honestly, I enjoy EJ’s scenes with Lucas more than I do with Sami. The majority of the time it looks as though James Scott has a hard time keeping a straight face when he character is busy bantering back and forth with Bryan R. Dattilo’s Lucas. Bryan is a funny man in real life and can do numerous impressions of the characters, so I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the crew has to do several takes with EJ and Lucas. Remember when EJ joked how Lucas had soft lips after Lucas gave him CPR in the steam room?
In the end, I truly believe that Lucas and Sami will end up back together when all is said and done. I believe Sami will always love Lucas, her true soulmate. Knowing Sami the way I do, I can’t believe she could ever truly love a man like EJ the way she loves Lucas. When will he pay for his crimes or ever admit to them? It’s as if the Salem P.D. have stopped investigating all the horrible gloved hand crimes he committed. It’s as though EJ is allowed to get away with murder just because he’s hot to trot. This is not a man whom I would want around my kids! After Sami has her twins, I hope she puts EJ to work with raising her babies and one of them spits on his designer suit. Maybe if EJ expressed some kind of retribution for what he’s done to Steve or John, then I’d perhaps soften towards the thought of a Sami/EJ union. I believe that Lucas and Sami will eventually find their way back to one another like they always do and like they were meant to be. In the meantime, bring back Mimi or Chloe to keep Lucas occupied and make Sami jealous!
