Three's a Crowd

By , About.com Guide

At the pub, Nick and Chelsea are peeved when China Lee suggests the boys stay with Nick permanently. She summons the boys over to the table, who rave how they love hanging out with their “daddy.” “How can you say no to these little faces?” asks con artist China Lee. Nick insists the boys need a mother, but China Lee claims they need a father figure. Nick then coaxes Chelsea to take the boys to get some cookies. He states his refusal to be guilted into taking the boys. He admits he loves them, but insists they need a mother. China Lee then confesses that she’s not the real mother. “Well that’s a surprise,” quips Chelsea as she rejoins them. Chelsea wonders how China Lee ended up with the boys if they aren’t hers. “Cold hard cash,” she replies. An incredulous Nick wonders if she kidnaped Artemis and DeMarquette. Chelsea interrogates the con woman after she claims she brought the boys to the states and was supposed to meet someone in Vegas who never showed. “Look, do I need to put you on shut up?” barks China Lee to Chelsea. Nick steps in to referee as the ladies bicker. China Lee complains how expensive it gets to take care of two boys and how it cramps her style. She admits that she had her eyes on a lot of guys in Vegas the night she met Nick, but there was something about him. “The fact that I had just won 50 grand?” assumes Nick. She claims she approached him because he seemed responsible and attests that Nick’s the best thing that ever happened to the boys. She proceeds to walk away and leave the boys in Nick’s care, but Chelsea stops her and refuses to let her walk out. Nick reminds the bickering ladies that they’re in a public place. Chelsea then proudly reveals that her dad is the Chief of Detectives at the Salem P.D. and proceeds to call him. Nick confirms this and adds that her uncle is the Deputy Police Commissioner. China Lee urges Chelsea to hang up the phone and tell her what she wants. Chelsea requests the names of the boys’ parents, then China Lee can walk out free and clear. Nick implores her to start talking, otherwise they’ll call Bo. China Lee finally reveals that the boys belong to a very powerful man with lots of enemies, and she was brought on board to keep them safe. She claims the boys’ dad is dead and urges Nick and Chelsea to keep quiet about the situation. Otherwise, someone will come after the boys. “How do I know you’re not lying right now?” questions a skeptical Nick. “Are you willing to risk these kids’ lives to find out?” asks China Lee. Chelsea tries to assure a torn Nick that there’s a way out of this, then alerts Nick that China Lee is leaving. The two ex-lovers chase after her.

Nick and Chelsea later return to the pub peeved that the con artist got away. Chelsea proceeds to call Bo, but Nick cautions her against this, since something could happen to the boys and thus he’d never forgive himself. The boys rush over to Nick, where he fills the boys in on China Lee spilling the truth that she’s not their real mom. Nick sugar coats the situation and states they’re staying with him for a little while longer. They hug him in delight.

In Shawn’s hospital room, Belle is surprised that Shawn wants her to accompany Philip to San Antonio. Belle says Phil didn’t invite her, though. Shawn doubts Phil would say no if Belle would invite herself. She insists she needs to be with Shawn and Claire and refers to herself as an immature jerk since she didn’t consider Shawn’s feelings beforehand. She promises things will change and admits she told Philip not to depend on her anymore. Shawn theorizes that Belle will feel guilty if Phil goes to Texas and something goes wrong. Then Belle will end up resenting Shawn as a result. Shawn suggests it would be nice to pay Philip back the favor since he did everything he could to help them find Claire. She insists she’s not leaving Shawn’s side and admits if she was the one in the hospital bed, Shawn would never get on the next flight out of Salem. Shawn claims he’s okay with Belle helping her friends. He declares that his jealous feelings for Philip are gone. She notes that it’s as though he’s forcing her to go on this trip. “Do yo have some other agenda?” she questions. Shawn admits he realized how much Belle meant to him when they were trapped in the freezer. He professes to love and trust her. She thanks him for trusting her and kisses him, professing to love him just as much. He tells her to wish Phil luck for him, then remembers the chat he had with Lexie about love and trust.

Beautiful Billie meets Philip at the pub and displays information about Tyler which could change everything. Billie notes that Lauren’s been spending money on clothes and girly stuff, but no money on the baby. She states the receipts go back even before Tulsa. Philip wonders if Lauren’s been lying to him the whole time about having the baby. Billie speculates that Lauren gave up Tyler a while ago. “Great. So now we’re back to square one,” moans Philip. She encourages him not to be so pessimistic and expand his search. She apologizes for not having better news and urges him to go to San Antonio to confront Lauren and make her talk. Philip doubts she’ll talk, since she didn’t reveal anything in Tulsa. Billie insists that Lauren’s the only one who knows where Tyler is. “Come on Philip. You’re a Kiriakis. Use your resources!” she implores. Phil says he offered her $300,000 and she turned him down. Billie surmises it’s because he offered it to her in front of a cop. Phil admits he’s tormented wondering if his son is loved or cared for every day. Billie suggests he roll up his sleeves and play dirty by calling the cops and accusing Lauren of killing his son. Phil thanks his sis for helping him out. Belle then approaches Philip and questions which airline he’s flying, implying that she needs to buy herself a ticket. Billie hugs her bro, wishes him luck, and exchanges “I love you’s” before she leaves. Philip is surprised when Belle reveals that Shawn encouraged her to go. He thanks her for helping him. “You deserve to be happy,” she says.
