Protect the Folio at all Costs

By , About.com Guide

Nick visits a recovered Jett, who wonders why he’s there. Nick apologizes for the way he’s treated Jett and suggests they take a stab at being friends. “I’m Nick Fallon. Nice to meet you,” he says as he extends his hand. Jett appears skeptical but agrees to start over with him. They exchange a friendly quick guy hug, then Nick questions when the ISA will be reassigning him. Jett reveals he got fired because he put civilian lives in danger and let Rawlings slip away. Jett hints that he may have another job at Salem U., since Chelsea’s going to discuss it with her mom. Nick doesn’t appear too thrilled at the prospect of Jett staying in Salem. “You’re kidding me. You’re going from federal agent to busting keg parties?” questions Nick. Jett says it’s not ideal, but at least it’s law enforcement. Nick asks if he’s heard from Billie and wonders what if she says no. Jett claims he’ll beg some police department to hire him somewhere, since Abe wants him to prove himself first. Nick advises him not to sweat it, noting that Chelsea’s stubborn when she wants something. Jett then wonders if Nick is there in order to find out what Chelsea wants. Nick states that he and Chelsea have history and are still pretty close. After the nurse announces Jett’s discharge papers are ready, Jett mentions that he’s staying with his Uncle Abe. He then asks Nick how his job search is going. Nick proudly reveals that the university hired him to teach science. He also fills Jett in on China Lee dumping her two boys on him. Jett chuckles how unbelievable that is, but admits the boys are lucky to be with Nick. Nick leaves and assures Jett he has the security job.

Chelsea and Billie enter the pub together, where Chelsea fills her mom in on college life. Billie admits that she’s missed her. Chelsea demurs that she needs some help and asks if Billie could hire Jett Carver at the university. She speculates that her mom is now mad since the only time she ever phones Billie is when she needs a favor. Billie admits she’s thrilled that Chelsea called regardless, then asks why she should hire Jett. Chelsea claims he’s smart, brave, and protected all those people in Vegas. Billie doesn’t share the same opinion, since that’s not what she heard. Chelsea insists it wasn’t Jett’s fault and continues to plead her case to Billie regarding Jett. Billie expresses how thrilled she is that Chelsea asked for help, but still isn’t sold on hiring Jett. Chelsea claims she just wants to help Jett and hints that if he doesn’t have any job prospects lined up when he leaves the hospital today, he may leave Salem. Billie wishes she could make it simple and say yes to Jett. Chelsea pouts and tells her mom to forget it before she proceeds to leave. Billie stops her as Chelsea asks why things have to be so complicated with her. “Because you’re my daughter and it goes with the territory. Just ask Grandma Kate,” replies Billie. Chelsea believes Kate would hire Jett, no questions asked. Billie agrees, but Kate would remind Chelsea about it every single day. Billie then tells her to have Jett come by and see her, hinting that she may have a job opening after all.

Chelsea later re-approaches her mother, who thought she’d left already. She says she tried calling Jett, but there was no answer. Billie tells Chelsea to give Jett her number and mentions that she’ll need files on Jett. She briefs Chelsea on the job description, which entails for someone to supervise the security staff and manage patrol schedules. Chelsea assures Billie that she’ll like Jett. They share an embrace before Billie queries what’s going on with her and Jett. Chelsea claims they’re just friends. Nick then arrives with the boys. Billie notes that for someone as young as Chelsea, she has a lot of interesting chapters.

Billie is later impressed with how the boys are playing chess. Nick raves how they’re also into art, music, and reading. “Wow. You sound like a proud father,” notes Billie. He then invites Chelsea to hang out with him and the boys. She says maybe, then hugs her mom good-bye. Nick then sits down with his former lover and reveals that he spoke to Jett Carver, who mentioned that Chelsea was trying to help get him a job. Nick suggests that Jett’s overqualified to be handing out parking tickets. “So when was being really good at your job a problem?” retorts Billie. Nick states that Jett’s a good guy. Billie assures Nick he’s a good guy too. He then asks Billie what she found out about the boys. She reveals that she came up with nothing, and it’s as though they didn’t even exist before they lived with China Lee. Billie admits she’s hampered without a last name to go on. “They must have a last name,” insists Nick. “Well uh, unless you’re Bono or Madonna, yeah that’s generally the rule,” quips Billie. Nick shares what China Lee told him about the danger involved if Nick spills any information to the authorities about the boys. A conflicted Nick asks Billie what his options are, since he doesn’t want to take a chance on hurting the boys but he’s not exactly ready for fatherhood either. She suggests social services, but Nick balks at this idea. He then mentions how Artemis talked about a place where he likes to play, which Nick speculates could be a clue as to where the boys are from. Billie despairs how the kids technically don’t exist without documents. Nick smiles how the boys amaze him. Billie admits she wants to see a picture of Nick in the dictionary when she looks up the word “man.” “Make sure to cross reference me with ‘sucker’ and ‘fall guy,’” adds Nick. Billie wishes him luck before she goes. The boys then hug Nick when he invites them to hang out with him a little while longer.

At Kayla’s suite, Steph begs her mom to let Jeremy go, reminding her how she went on the run years ago. Kayla points out that their situations are completely different, since Steve was innocent and Victor Kiriakis was trying to kill them. Stephanie notes that her mom makes Jeremy sound like a hit man. Kayla notes that he’s working his way up from what she’s read on his rap sheet. “That is an awful thing to say,” states Stephanie.
