Abe considers running for mayor. Kayla reveals that she's the new chief of staff.
Bo is forced to arrest Caroline for Trent's murder. Philip and Chloe enjoy each other's company. Lucas encourages Chloe to start singing again. Daniel urges Kate to schedule a biopsy. Daniel informs Nicole that she's pregnant. Doug, Julie, Mickey, and Maggie support Caroline. Hope tells Steve to keep digging into Trent's past. Nick, Melanie, Max, and Stephanie find out about Trent's murder.
Chelsea refuses to forgive Daniel and Kate. Daniel reveals to Kate that she has lung cancer. Nicole asks E.J. for help regarding her divorce settlement. Bo decides to put his name into consideration for Abe's job. Maggie notices Nick's bruises on his hand. Stephanie finds Max's bloody shirt. Caroline is found holding a bloody knife over Trent's body.
Claude phones Trent and threatens him. Trent begs Melanie for help. Max and Melanie arrive at Trent's hotel room, where Max attacks Trent. Chelsea confides in Nick. Nick pulls an angry Max off of Trent. Nicole asks Philip for help. Chloe whines to Nicole how she's not ready to be a mother. Roman urges Bo to consider Abe's job. Caroline arrives at the station worried about Max.
Hope decides to turn down the job as police commissioner. Stefano intends to destroy Marlena. Nicole confronts Trent. John has a seizure in front of Anna. Max urges Trent to leave Salem and stay away from Melanie. John is rushed to the hospital. Kayla examines John's brain scan and is alarmed by what she sees. Daniel runs into Chelsea at the hospital. Marlena begs Stefano for help.
Marlena confides in Anna about John. Melanie admits to Trent that she wishes Max would've killed him. Lexie tells Hope that Abe is determined to put Stefano away. Nick warns Trent to stay away from Melanie. Abe tries to convince Roman and Bo to try for his job, but neither are interested. Stefano and John argue about the DiMera empire. The mayor announces Hope as Abe's successor.
Caroline orders Trent out of the pub and lays into him for using Melanie in order to pay off his gambling debt. Nick comforts Melanie and Chelsea displays her jealousy. Nicole reveals the truth to Victor. Caroline offers to let Melanie stay at the pub. Victor phones Nico, wanting him to do something in regards to Trent. Lexie confronts Stefano and declares that she's through with him.
Max angrily confronts Trent at the pub and threatens to kill him. Melanie threatens to kill Trent. Bo and Hope confront Nicole about her marriage to Trent. Philip offers Lucas a job at Titan. Philip and Lucas set up a special surprise for Kate. The hospital board makes a decision concerning Lexie. Daniel is crestfallen upon seeing the results of Kate's X-ray. Abe vows to stop Stefano.
E.J. and Nicole discuss going out on a date. Philip takes Kate to the hospital, where she coughs up blood. Daniel defends Lexie to the hospital board. Abe accuses the mayor of looking for a scapegoat. A frustrated Abe tears off his badge and quits the police force.
Stefano throws a cocktail party at the mansion and announces Marlena as the guest of honor. Marlena confesses what she did to Stefano. E.J. tells Sami to grow up. John gives an impassioned speech to Marlena. Tony and E.J. are determined to take back control. Marlena apologizes to Sami. John vows to protect Marlena from Stefano. Lexie wonders if she and Abe are doing enough for Theo.
Stefano tells Anna of his intentions. Nicole points out to E.J. how people keep cleaning up after Sami's mistakes. Theo throws a fit in front of E.J. Nicole and Daniel have drinks together. Marlena gives Trent the third degree. Nicole pushes John's buttons about Trent. John assaults Trent. John fires a round at the shooting range. Stefano has dinner with Kate and proposes to her.
Melanie kisses Nick, then says she's leaving. Chelsea confides in Nick. Melanie agrees to come back to the states with Max. Morgan agrees to give things another shot with Philip. Victor finds out about Kate and Daniel. Trent asks Nicole for money. John expresses his dislike of Trent. Marlena doesn't believe she and John are good together anymore. John phones Trent wanting to talk to him.
Chelsea chastises Melanie for putting Nick's life in danger. Max vows to kill Trent. Philip learns about Kate and Daniel's affair. Philip kisses Morgan. E.J. tells Nicole and Sami to deal with their own problems. Sami heads to the Horton cabin, and E.J. follows her. Nicole reports a possible kidnapping. Chloe soothes Allie. The police arrive at the cabin and order Sami to hand Allie over.
Steve asks Hope to run a background check on Trent. Kate asks Kayla to prescribe some antibiotics. Chloe is uncomfortable with Allie. Lucas and Chloe make love. Chelsea surprises Max and Stephanie in France. Trent asks Melanie for help. Nick is shot trying to rescue Melanie from Claude. Daniel implores Kate to get a chest X-ray. Kate's assistant hires Morgan as an intern.
John doesn't want Marlena seeing Trent. Lexie urges Tony to walk away from Stefano. Philip wants to start over with Morgan, but she can't forgive him. Anna offers to take Kate to the hospital for her bad cough. Bo and Hope have a romantic picnic in the park. E.J. urges Sami to play by the rules and be a model citizen. John comforts Sami.
