In Marseille, France, the paramedics attend to a bleeding Nick as the officer implores him to tell her everything that happened. Nick insists that he can’t talk about it. Max demands to know what the hell happened. Nick claims it’s over and suggests that they move on, but Max can’t do that. Chelsea approaches Melanie and chastises her for putting Nick’s life in danger and refusing to talk to the cops. Melanie questions who she is. “Don’t worry, you’ll find out,” warns Chelsea, who continues to lay into Melanie for sitting back and sulking when someone gets shot for her. The officer summons Melanie to talk in private. A distressed Chelsea asks Nick if he’s protecting Melanie. Nick insists that Mel’s not to blame, but Chelsea’s not buying it. The paramedics take Nick to the hospital.
After they exit, Chelsea notes how quiet Max has been. Max says he’s just trying to figure out what happened, and surmises that if Nick doesn’t want to spill, he has his reasons. Chelsea surmises that there’s something going on between Nick and Melanie. Max wonders why she cares, reminding her that she dumped Nick. Chelsea insists that she still cares about Nick as a friend and clarifies that she came to France to help Max. “Then lay off Melanie,” he implores. Chelsea laments hurting Nick really bad and blowing her chance with him. Max comforts Chelsea about things being over between her and Dr. Dan.
Chelsea gets off the phone and expresses her worry for Nick. Steph informs Chelsea that the cops interviewed Melanie alone and states how Mel’s obviously been through a lot. Chelsea asks Stephanie to come back to the hotel with her before they head to the hospital. Steph is about to inform Max of their plans, but changes her mind and heads out with Chelsea.
Nearby, Max requests to speak to Melanie and asks his distressed sister how she’s doing. She cries that she’s been worse. Max apologizes and expresses his disbelief that their own father would pimp her out just to get rid of his gambling debt. Melanie says she’s okay, but Max is furious over the ordeal. She just wants to get back to her own life. Max believes he should do the same, but still wants to be a part of her life. They exchange hugs and express how they’ll miss each other. She apologizes about the jail ordeal and asks if he thinks Nick will forgive her. Max assures her that Nick’s a good guy. Melanie receives a text message from Trent, which asks if she’s okay. She throws the phone in disgust and sobs.
Chelsea and Stephanie return to her hotel room, where Steph encourages Chelsea to open up. Chelsea reveals that Daniel slept with Kate and doesn’t think she can get over it. Steph wonders if Chelsea coming to France might have anything to do with wanting to get back with Nick. Chelsea says no and insists that they just get out of there and go see Nick. A peeved Max returns to the hotel room ready to head back to Salem. “When I get there, I’m gonna kill my father,” he vows.
At the pub, Philip approaches Morgan and asks if he can sit, but she says no. He reiterates that what happened with her father was business and asks if they can start over. She chastises him for helping to put her father behind bars. “My father is in prison! Maybe for the rest of his life,” she desponds. “Your father and John Black are the ones to blame if that’s what you’re looking to do,” he affirms. He apologizes for what she’s going through, but he refuses to take responsibility for something which he had nothing to do with. He receives a call from Daniel, who summons him down to the hospital regarding Kate. Philip asks Morgan to come with him and she reluctantly agrees to.
Philip and Morgan arrive at the hospital and continue to argue about her father and how he chose to align himself with John. Kate emerges and wonders what the hell is wrong with Philip, noting that he’s with Morgan again. Morgan affirms that she and Philip will never have a connection again, especially after what happened with her father. She walks off. Philip accuses his mom of being overprotective. He reveals that he got a call from Daniel, who’s worried about her. She claims she’s fine and refers to Daniel as an alarmist. They argue before Philip surmises that when it comes to him and Lucas, nobody is ever good enough for them in Kate’s eyes. Kate refers to this as unfair and claims she has been supportive of his and Lucas’s relationships, but Phil disagrees. Daniel emerges and was hoping Philip could persuade Kate to get an X-ray. Kate insists that she has a little cough and implores him to prescribe some antibiotics. Philip encourages Kate to listen to Daniel. “Honey, I’m a big girl, and I don’t need either of you telling me what to do,” she affirms before she coughs again.
Philip requests a word alone with Kate and wonders why she’s being so stubborn when all Daniel wants to do is make sure she’s okay. Kate tries to change the subject and apologizes for flying off the handle about Morgan, admitting that she needs to respect his choices. She asks him not to interfere in her life as well. Philip states his intentions to interfere in her life when it comes to her physical health. She states that Morgan has a lot of problems. Philip admits that he cares about Morgan and knows she has problems. “But don’t we all?” he retorts as Morgan overhears. Kate berates herself for giving Philip relationship advice, noting how she’s come up pretty empty in that department. Philip notices Daniel and Kate exchange a look. “Oh my God! You and Daniel?” he assumes. Kate leaves, and Philip lays into Daniel for his affair with Kate, especially after all Victor’s done for him. Daniel didn’t think his involvement with Kate wasn’t being disloyal to Victor. He expresses how he never meant to hurt anyone, including Chelsea.
Morgan approaches Philip after Daniel gets back to work and touches his hand, expressing how sorry she is. They arrive back outside the pub, where Philip rants about how Daniel hurt Kate and Chelsea. He agrees to let it go for now, insisting that they have more important things to discuss, such as the two of them. He kisses her.
