Marlena advises him to stay away from John, herself, and the Bradys, especially after what he did to Max. What happened to giving a guy a second chance? he questions. Marlena doesnt think so, especially because he shows no remorse. Nicole witnesses the exchange through the window, then runs off feeling sick to her stomach. She returns after getting sick and blames it on Carolines chowder.
Back inside, Trent says Marlena shouldnt have messed with him after she walks out. Whats wrong with you, John? questions a perplexed Marlena.
John later heads to a shooting range and has a gun. I wont let you win. Even if it means I have to kill you, vows John before firing off some rounds.
Tony and Anna enter the DiMera mansion, where Anna whines how it will be all his fault if they dont land a certain account. Tony apologizes for cutting her presentation short, but claims she puts people to sleep. She states that she had the attention of one of the gentlemen, but Tony notes that he was staring at Annas behind the entire time. A jovial Tony pulls her into a brief kiss, then they enter the living room to find a romantic setting. Stefano emerges and confirms that its for a special occasion, which they arent a part of. He reminds them that it is his home and reveals that his date will be arriving soon. Tony questions what lady would be foolish enough to date him. Tony and Anna are floored when Kate shows up. Stefano greets Kate and expresses how glad he is that she could make it. Anna suggests that if Kates that lonely, she should try speed dating. Did my father force you to come here? questions Tony. Stefano states that he and Kate have been friends for a long time and asks Tony and Anna to excuse them. Anna and I arent going anywhere, refuses Tony, who summons him to speak in private.
Tony wants to know what his intentions are towards Kate. This elicits laughter from Stefano, who wonders when he has to explain himself to Tony. Tony refuses to leave him alone unless he knows exactly what hes up to.
Meanwhile, Anna didnt realize Kate and Stefano were still chummy. Kate admits that she and Stefano havent always seen eye to eye, but theyve remained on civil terms. Anna questions if Kate has any idea why Stefano invited her. Kate begins to cough and claims shes taking antibiotics. Anna hears the argument nearby and leads Tony out of the room.
Tony eavesdrops behind closed doors and insists that they have to find a way to protect Kate. Stefano expresses how pleased he is that Kate decided to accept his invitation. Kate assumes that he must be happy to be in his home again and heard that hes no longer facing criminal charges. Stefano pours wine and refers to the whole thing with John as a misunderstanding. He proposes a toast to new beginnings.
Anna wonders if they really have to stand out there listening to Kate talk about herself all night. Tony insists that they need to look out for her well being. Anna jokes how Stefano just wants a dinner companion and has the bad taste to choose Kate. Tony suggests that she put her petty feelings aside and remember that Stefano always has an ulterior motive. Anna believes hes being overprotective and reminds him whos wearing the big flashy ring. Tony insists that Kate is their friend who needs their help. Anna has an idea and summons him to come with her.
Stefano notes how restless Kate seems. She apologizes if shes being a bad guest, but she cant seem to get her mind off of work. Stefano admits how impressed hes always been with her always able to rise from the ashes, suspecting that its something they both have in common. She credits Tony for some of her success, stating that he has a keen eye for what the consumer wants. Tony and Anna emerge dressed in aprons, claiming that the cook had a little accident in the kitchen. An annoyed Stefano apologizes to Kate, suggesting that theyll have to put up with the idiotic antics if they want a decent meal. Kate thinks shell enjoy having Anna wait on her hand and foot.
Stefano and Kate later come back into the living room, where Kate remarks how delicious dinner was. Anna suggests dessert and Scrabble to top off the evening, but Stefano is not in the mood and states that he and Kate have some important business to discuss. Tony and Anna reluctantly leave the room and eavesdrop from the foyer. Stefano apologizes to Kate for all the stupidity tonight, but Kate says its fine. I would like to make a proposal, announces Stefano. Tony wonders what in the world Stefanos talking about. Stefano proposes that they should get married, which leaves Kate speechless.
Tony is in disbelief upon hearing Stefanos proposal. I told you not to serve him so much wine! The man is obviously drunk! surmises Anna. Tony wonders what he hopes to gain by marrying Kate. Anna doesnt believe Kate will really accept.
Meanwhile, Kate is very taken aback by his proposal. She expresses how shes always had a great deal of affection for him and will always be grateful for the help hes extended towards Lucas and her, but is unsure about marriage. Stefano predicts they would make a perfect pair. Kate wonders where his proposal is coming from. He recalls how he spent the last several months in a catatonic state, where he had time to think and realized that he wanted her. Are you saying youre in love with me? asks Kate. Stefano affirms that he wants Kate by his side for whatever time he has left on this earth. She agrees that theyve always had a connection, but asks about Marlena, since she always thought Marlena was his Queen of the Night. Stefano says hes not done with Marlena yet, as he has his own special plans for her.
