John and Marlena's Weddings

It's the end of an era on DAYS, as John and Marlena were finally reunited and reprofessed their love for one another on Friday, January 23 before departing for Switzerland. To say that John and Marlena's final week was disappointing is a mild understatement, but I'll discuss more about that later. For now, which wedding from this unforgettable supercouple is your all-time favorite? Please feel free to share your thoughts.

I will have to say neither of them was my favorite John & Marlena wedding. I was always hoping that Marlena would get back together with Roman so Sami and Eric could have there parents back together. I will not miss John at all. I thought that John should have left last year when that car hit him and then Roman and Marlena could have gotten back together again. I really like Roman and I am really glad that John is gone.
On yesterday’s episode there was one great scene out of the whole show that I loved. I don’t normally like Stefano but, when he got the call about John and Marlena he rushed to the hospital and saw them through that window and Marlena said before that to him you can’t hurt us anymore or something like that. It was classic. I think I am about done with Days
now.
I too was extremely disappointed in the final scenes of Marlena and John but after listening and watching Deidre’s video to her fans (which I loved, by the way) I got the feeling that it was not going to be what we had all hoped for. It was great to see the old John back, if only for a few short minutes and I thought their words to each other were touching and very real given the circumstances. I’m sure they are good friends and will remain so even though they will not be working together on Days any longer. As for the weddings, I guess the 1999 wedding was the one I enjoyed the most although any wedding with those two gorgeous people is worth tuning in for!! I am going to miss them and their past intriguing, loving, heartfelt and sometimes funny story lines. They were the “soap” couple for the ages and will never be able to be replaced by any couple on any soap; past, present or future! I too may only watch Days now for a short time until we all see Nicole get what’s coming to her and then I’ll turn off the TIVO and sadly leave “Days” in the past. A Deidre fan since 1976 and always!

I will miss both John and Marlena, i can’t believe they are leaving. I think both are very talented!!! Its very sad kinda like a death. I will sadly miss them. can’t believe it.
My favorite wedding was their first, but they were all beautiful…I still can’t get over what little fanfare they left with. It was touching, but just not enough for all the years of joy they gave us. There is nothing left for me on Days now. I just may do what the other fan said, just watch to see Nicole get what’s coming to her and turn NBC off and I’ve watched since the beginning! So disappointed with this decision.
I have watched the show almost from the beginning and still love to watch. I will miss John and Marlena characters, but will continue to watch because of other favorites.
I loved John and Marlena!!! I thought they should have stayed around (maybe not always front burner, but around) to be the ones to take the place of Alice and Tom Horton! The one everyone when needed to talk or some kind of help they would always be there. Remember when Alice was always in the know and helping her Grandchildren? Tom was always doing great things at the hospital, John has the money to follow those footsteps too! They could simi-retire them (we’d see them more than Doug and Julie but off and on kinda like that) Those of us who have watched from day one will REALLY miss them. Just think how Sami or EJ could use Marlena NOW!!! John could be the behind the sceans for Bo and Hope at the police Dept. There is just so much more that they could be used for. Corday said it was for money reason’s I can’t buy that as there is still as many commercials as there always was! If it was NBC, they don’t know a good thing when they have it, and that means to much morning news and NOT any GOOD evening shows to watch like they used to have! Biggest Looser, and the Law and Orders are the only things we watch on NBC now, and it used to be the ONLY network we watched. If they could buy Army Wifes from Cable Lifetime, then they’d have something worth following! They need to go back and regroup and leave the best daytime drama alone!!!! Now that covers morning to night! The last good drama for daytime was Sunset Beach, but they pulled it!!! See who ever is in charge doesn’t know what MIDDLE America wants, all they listen to is the coast!!! Well we are out here too!
I missed their last show Friday, but it sounds like I didn’t miss much. Oh well. I, too, have been frustrated of late. I DESPISE the fake pregnancy scam. Like anyone would fall for that! Sadly, I won’t really miss John & Marlena. I didn’t mind their story lines, but never liked their love scenes - neither looked like good kissers. Sorry. I agree with the reader above, “Sunset Beach” was fabulous. So many good looking people. I’m glad to see “Rafe” from “Passions.” I want his relationship with Sami persued. He’s hot! Just my 2 cents worth.
Sorry to see Marlena and John’s story end.
Doug and Julie have the staying power even if they are only recurring characters at this time.
Bo and Hope don’t have enought spark to hold it together anymore.
Sami will be the Erica Kane of DOOL.

As a viewer since 1965, I have only one with for the show…that Kate would get outed for for all her misdeeds over the years would sum the program up nicely.
Hey, viv, I think I may have mentioned this in before, but, I don’t watch NBC much at all anymore. When, fall comes again I may quit watching NBC all together. I don’t even watch the TODAY show much anymore because its on for 4 hours and that’s way too long and it’s gotten a little bit siily as well. For the morning shows I have switched to GMA on ABC. I kind of like it a little better.
I, too, was very disappointed in the way they sent John and Marlena off. In spite of the fact they were dumped so unceremoniously, they were part of a Super Couple base that was the bread and butter of Days for years.
After watching Deidre’s video tho, I knew not
to expect too much. Which is sad as you could
see she felt bad about it. I feel DOOL is not too long for this world. They seem to grasping at storylines with their couples. The only steady storyline they have going right now is sami and Rafe and I’m sire when Alison comes back from maternity leave they’ll screw that up too, in which case I doubt I’ll be watching too much anymore. It’s a sad ending for a show that once was labled as innovative and had their story on the cover of Time magazine.

I have been a “Daily viewer since the first day it airred and I am so glad when you show all the scenes from long ago. I am however VERY sad that Marlena and John will no longer be a part of our lives.. I wish them both well and hope that someday I will be watching and they will be there again !!! I also just saw Rachael Melvin on “Family Fued” show on GSN it was so weird seeing her there with her family not sure of time of show but when ever she looked like she did when she started “Days” Just wanted to tell you that I have only missed maybe 20 shows in the 45yrs it has been on I LOVE IT…..
It doesn’t matter anymore which wedding I liked the most. The only thing that matters is that the powers that be has taken 2 very talented, cherished, beautiful, faithful and loved by fans and threw them away like they didn’t matter anymore. It was cruel and disrespectful to them and their art. I know that other ways to cut the budget could have been found. I would not want anybody to lose their jobs but you don’t take the best you have and anger and sadden their fans this way. Since Alice (bless her heart) isn’t able to carry on anymore, Days characters needed someone that could step in her place. Marlena and John are the only choice to do that. Who is going to be the example for the up coming offsprings. Just like in real life the young people are giving second rate acting due to lack of experience with less than admiral morals. They think nothing of sleeping with each other. There is more to acting than pretending to be naked in bed with someone (you know the rest). I could say so much more but what good will it do. I hope Day’s ratings goes way down and stays that way in honor of Marlena and John until they bring them back. The only ones I feel bad about is thinking this way is Bo and Hope another wonderful long time couple that have given us fans wonderful acting and are just important in the show as Marlena and John. I suppose they will let them go next. I better find me another soap on another network to start watching. I get the soap opera digest so I can use that as a guide to all of the soaps to pick one especially since Days was the only soap I watched.
A very hurt fan
I HATED the so-called wedding of John & Marlana.Its like the powers that be just wanted to get them off the show as fast as they could.I have watched Days since day 1,but Friday,Jan. 23 was my last day watching until Drake & Deidre are bought back.I won’t be watching any show on NBC.Does anyone know how I can find Deidres video?I would like to see it.
Now! Now! Now! Let’s all not get all bent out of shape. John and Marlena can’t be gone for good. Hopefully they’re taking some time off for others to play their parts and to come up with more scenes from Switzerland that will have Salem blowing apart at the seams in a few months. I know Ken Corday won’t let his parents’ accomplished dreams go down the tubes. At least we can hope and pray not. If he needs money let him ask for donations from all of the fans to keep our oldest cast from the past and the unnecessary new slower ones to be outta here. As for Grandmother Alice I love and miss her so as she is the backbone of the show with true grit. It was such a let down not seeing her there at Christmas or Thanksgiving. She should never be forgotten by the show. Doug & Julie could be the next ones to follow in Granny & Gramps Horton’s footsteps as the wise advisors to all the young set. We need new storylines that are more action and not the mothering type that keeps going on with Kate. She definitely needs to be put back out into the world in another country perhaps under Stefano’s control. She has a lot more to offer as an actress too. He’s a great actor that can pivot the show the way crime needs to be done. As for Nicole she has really played her part well of losing the baby and now it’s time for her to kidnap Sami’s new baby because it would take a long time for it to come about since it would have EJ’s bloodline since they are making her go off the deep end. More things need to happen on Days that will bring out the whole cast such as a tornado, bombings from crimes, or some other fiasco that will keep us all a guessing. Steve & Kayla, Bo & Hope, need some exciting parts to do. Ava needs to return later as she could have had a baby by John. Another monkey wrench thrown in could help the show and keep John & Marlena’s part hanging on to the fine threads of love and hate. The girl raped by the Ford kid that was supposedly killed after his fall and disposed of by Max could have be faked while he was in the basement by him easily using a cellphone and faking his death by a stolen corpse from the morgue brought to him by a faithful evil friend so he can do more evil. Since he was suppose to be decomposed when Max moved him it could easily be a dead corpse stolen from the morgue. Paybacks could be hell for Chelsea and the others that think he is permenantly gone for good. Nick’s going to prison could actually be the downfall for Maggie and she could fall off the band wagon going back to the bottle causing Mickey a hard time to get her straightened out so they could have more parts on the show. Let their love be shown for each other like it use to be. V
The 1986 wedding was the best because it was all about them, and it had long scenes and it was just a goddamn great wedding, no interuptions! Their last episode sucked and Days is doomed. I hope Deidre and Drake get on another soap!
I’m very disappointed now that Marlena and John are gone. I;ve been watching dool since I was 10. I think the story line could of been better. As for the up coming events, please find some better writers. The story lines seem to be repeating themselfs. Baby swapping again. I we not seen this before. Come on. I’m not a writer but I sure could of thought about some better story lines. And keeping John and Marlena. Everyone is having financial troubles. Take a pay cut Mr Corday. And yes I did miss Alice at Christmas. I’m not to sure about watching anymore if they don’t start getting some good story line. Get rid of some of your dead weights like Kate, Chloe and Lucas.

I am now out of here. Do what you want with the show. It just keeps getting worse and worse. It used to be great, but the writers have a problem with a positive creative interesting story line. They keep writing about the same ole same ole.
Getting rid of John and Marlena was the final straw. So long fair well.
days dont know what they are doing.the show wasnt coming back,then they gave them a contract for 1 year.now they took them off they just dont know how to work a soap anymore.
What a way for the show to bring the ratings up - let two if it’s most popular characters go. They could have dumped 6-8 other useless characters first. Boring! They will lose a lot of fans over this choice and deserve it.
Knowing this was their last week, I stopped watching. I have watched Days since the beginning. I stopped watching one other time - when Marlena was supposed to be the murderer. I don’t like many of the so-called ‘new, young’ people, so I will not miss it.

Dad. Those of us who watch it years ago had
always hoped for a reunion. How can they get
ride of Marlena there is so much to write for
her it just goes to show you these writers do

I can’t believe they let both of these characters go. Marlena and John are definitely favorites. I’m sure the writers will soon regret this decision. I have watched for years and years. But I hardly watch anymore. It’s boring.
I can’t believe what a pathetic ending Days gave to this iconic duo. Love them or not, their importance to the show over the past 2 decades can’t be denied. Yet TIIC basically flipped the bird to the actors and their fans.
Whatever. I’ve already deprogrammed my DVR. Days is history to me.

I’ve been watching Days since the 1970’s. I enjoyed Marlena and John in the beggining but I always thought she and Roman should have been together. Over the years, Marlena and John’s relationship became boring and very predictable, if not repetitious. I could tell you every time she was about to say “Ohhhhh John”, and his wierd eyebrow looks made me crazy. Sorry, but I’m glad the show is moving on without them.
John and Marlena were my favorite couple of all time, and I saw her with boring Roman. Never liked the curly haired guy. He wasn’t sexy.
Will miss John and Marlena but won’t miss Days.
I’m guessing this is a ploy, like a few years ago when just about all the main characters were ‘murdered’, and that they’ll make a triumphant return to much fanfare- probably during ratings week. John’s paralysis will be cured shortly after their return. Just you wait and see…
I thought it was a hugh dissappointment. Firing Marlena and John is like firing Tom and Alice. They are as much the heart of the show as Tom and Alice were. Ken has killed the heart of the show. It will slowly die. I have recorded Days for 25 or more years. I took them off my favorites and I hope many more follow.
I think Corday and Higley did a big disservice to Drake and Dee with the stupidest s/l I’ve ever seen in my life. They have both been dedicated actors with Days for so long and gave their all to the end even with the insulting s/l they performed. I was embarrassed for them that after all their years with Days, they were,t given a decent s/l and worse yet they left the fans who have watched Days for so many years disappointed and certainly not happy to know that their last remembrance of J&M in their minds would be Marlena pushing John around in a wheelchair. Hack!!! Higley couldn’t give the fans a s/l that was happy and one we could remember as being happy for Jarlena. It only shows how little she thought of the J&M fans when she wrote the crappiest s/l for two of the most beloved couple on daytime. I’m sickened and disgusted with the whole Days thing in general.
Getting on the subject of Ejami…Sami acts like Ej is such a bad person. He was always good to her and the twins…now Sami is the biggest liar. She and Rafe have zero chemistry, another Higley throw together. Ejamis were told to hang in there for Ejami…well, how long is the long haul, Dena? Hack????
If Days is going to get rid of more people here is my wish list of people to go next. Stefano, Melanie, Chloe, Daniel, Kate. They are all boring me. I wish they would show more of Anna and the new Mickey. It seems like Anna has totally dissapeared. The last time Tony mentioned her I think was when he said she was visting Carrie and Austin. I just don’t get this show at all anymore.
There has been a gradual decline in stoylines for some time now. The writing is pathetic. The oroginal family/faith-based feeling is hanging by a thread now. I will miss John/Marlena-they added an element of class and strength to the show. But since I won’t be watching much anymore (and I’ve been watching since ‘75), I guess it really doesn’t matter!
Yesterdays show was a doozy . It was interesting about the babies. I think Nicole will make a wonderful mom but watch everything get messed for her. EJ will be a horses butt about this . I have seen this happen before about other shows. Not exactly the same story line but lots of deceit. her intentions was to keep from losing EJ. If she has no more faith in him than that she does not need him.
why are you taking all the good actors off the show these people make the show like maralena and john now patch and kayla what is up with all of this and why are they trying to take the show off well good luck to all of you guys
