Soap Opera Digest is reporting that several beloved DAYS actors from the past are returning for Alice Horton's farewell, and some of them will appear in a few episodes rather than just a one-day guest appearance. The list of actors includes: Jaime Lyn Bauer (Laura Horton), Christie Clark (Carrie Brady Reed), Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton), Maree Cheatham (Marie Horton), Roark Critchlow (Dr. Mike Horton), Patsy Pease (Kimberly Brady), Lisa Trusel (Melissa Horton), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Brady Johnson), and Melissa Reeves (Jennifer Horton Devereaux).
As fans recall, Frances Reid passed away on February 3 at the age of 95. Soon afterwards, Digest reported that the show had plans to bring back a few stars to give Alice Horton the tribute she deserves.
In other casting news, TV Guide Magazine is reporting that Charles Shaughnessy is reprising his role as Shane Donovan for about ten episodes in May, but it could possibly turn into more. He beings taping on Monday, March 22. Shaughnessy portrayed the dashing ISA agent Shane Donovan from 1984 until 1992. He briefly returned to the role in 2002 when Hope was kidnapped by Larry Welch. The actor went on to star opposite Fran Drescher in the popular comedy The Nanny from 1993 until 1999. He was also the voice of Dennis the fish in Playhouse Disney's animated series Stanley, a role which earned him a 2002 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program.
More information about these wonderful returns will be posted as it becomes available. As previously reported, Arleen Sorkin is also returning to the show in May as the wacky Calliope Jones Bradford.

I am beyond excited that all these wonderful actors/characters are coming back to say goodbye to Alice Horton! I’m getting goosebumps thinking of seeing Kim and Shane onscreen together again. Not to mention the dynamic duo of Calliope and Ana! Who knows, maybe everyone will stop by Shenanigans and we’ll see Chris Kositchek!!
i’m happy to see a lot of the original characters coming back for the funeral. my very very favorite, marlena, tho isn’t and that makes me sad. i am looking forward to seeing jennifer horton as she was also one of my very favs. so i guess one out of two isn’t bad.
Ia m glad to see so many actors/actresses coming back for the memorial. But, I think there are so many not even listed that should be a part of the show. I don’t understand what is taking so long to have funeral/memorial forr Francis since she did pass away in February. She hasn’t even been brought up in any story line. Pretty pathetic!!
I have been an avid watcher since I was in elementary school, now 45. My sons are addicted as well.

I am absolutely thrilled that so many of the actors/actresses are returning for Frances’s funeral. It is my hope that yet another couple will return and that is Marlena/John. Seeing so many of the beloved actors/actresses return from the past is wonderful.
Please pair Sami with Rafe and Hope/Bo together again. I really don’t want to see either couple separated. Thanks alot.

Wonderful news about renewal of Days contract for at least the next 18 months. Marvelous to see all our favorites returning, but what about John and Narlena?? How about Doug and Julie? Aren’t they coming back for Mrs. H’s memorial? Am I being greedy?

The show needs to bring back Marlina and John.. shows today seem to be boring at times….they actually made the daytime series interesting when they were there.
First, its great news to see my favorite soap which I have been watching since I wass a liittle girl has been renewed for another season. I’m also 45 and have been watching Days since I was 3 with my Mother who is no longer with us.
Second, Its great to see some of the past characters/actors/actresses coming back for Mrs H/ Francis Reid’s Memorial service. It will be great to seen them again.
Third, Its great to see Shane Donovan coming back for 10 shows and possibly more. Will Kim Brady hang around also? I think the storyline for Shane & Kim would that they’re coming back to investigate the Salem drug ring that EJ supposely now owns and have Kevin Cates, who was Chief Richard Cates(the crooked Chief who was killed by Abe back in ‘85) son comeback as and agent who would supposely help but is really corrupt and wants to seek revenge on Abe and is also behind the drug ring.
The 80’s especially the early to mid were my favorite part of Days when Bo & Hope first met, the cartel storyline along with the Miami storyline and Pete & Melissa on the run. I was in high school and attended Penn State back then. That was a great time for Days.
Glad some of the “stars from the past”, are coming to Salem, even for a little time. Can we please, keep them all? I sure hope so.

Why isn’t Marlena and John coming back? I like seeing the old characters on the show, Like Doug and Julie, they are awesome. And Maggie is just beautiful after all these years. It would be nice to see more story lines for the old actors that got the show going. Hope and Bo should be together too. I dont understand whats wrong with Bo. I have been watching this show since I was a kid. I grew up with it. I hope they keep it on the air. Hey you need more story lines for Roman too, He needs a love interest.
Glad so many of the old cast are returing to pay tribute to Frances Reed. I wish that Marlena would return. The show is getting out of hand with the break-up of Bo and Hope. How may times does Rafe have to move out of Sami’s. Let’s get them toether.
You know, since the writers can’t seem to decide if they should or shouldn’t keep Sami and Rafe together, it is time to bring Lucas back. He and Sami never really had a chance at that story line. It would be good to see them back together. They have a lot of history,

Maybe besides seeing Chris Kositchek at Shenanigan’s, maybe we’ll see Savannah Wilder,Alex Marshall,Neil Curtis,Liz Chandler,Pete Jannings and his first wife Ivy and last but at least Eugene Bradford all inside still stuck in the 80’s and they pile into Eugene’s time machine (which is still somewhere floating around) and blast away to present 2010 and can’t believe how things have changed with the internet and cell phones, Abe is the Mayor and Bo is the police chief. Sice Calliope is returning, have her come by and she sees Eugene and everyone and says ” Eugene,everyone, where have you all been the last 25 years ?”. Eugenes just says “that we all were in the time machine and it got stuck inside Shenanigan’s all these years and finally fix it.” Now that would be a great episode.

Don’t forget Don Craig, the DA who was Marlena’s old love before Roman. Remember when he left? He said he was going out to mail a letter and never came back. Hasn’t been seen in Salem since. Maybe Stefano has him locked away somewhere.
I have been a fan since the sixties when I was in High School, watched on a tiny black and white set. Francis Reid was a lovely lady, looked so beautiful even into her nineties.I remember reading that she never had kids of her own, and basically did not ever want to retire, as she thought of the cast as her real family, she and Melissa Reeves were epecially close…sometimes art does imitate life. We will all really miss Alice, a wonderful role model in today’s crazy world.
Please do not bring back Marlena and John. I have been watching the show since day one in 1965. I always hated Marlena…so sickening sweet and John and his eyebrow. He wouldn’t be able to function without that eyebrow…….LOL. Now that Mrs H is gone let Doug and Julie take over that role. The show has been so much better lately. Keep up the good work.
The show will not be the same without Mrs. H. I’ve watched Days for 36 yrs and watching Alice & Tom were like seeing a set of grandparents everyday. With bringing back former cast members they really need to bring bring back Gregg Marx who played David Banning, Julie’s son.
agree, agree, agree, bring back the oldies…like many others watched since the 1960’s when I was a pre-teen with my grandmother who has passed on…time to bring back loving times, and perhaps times which were more innocent…bring back Kim, Laura, John, Kayla, Make Marie part of the show, with Jennifer, even Adraine, bring some of their kids in for more story lines which relate to the Hortons. Yah, Alice deserves a great send off. I remember when Another World had funerals for Adda, and Mack, cried the whole day…sick, but these shows bring back so many times.
Watched Days over 40 years and miss Alice like she was my own family. Look forward to seeing the older stars, however it won’t be the same without seeing Marlena & John….I did see today’s episode and once again….. Stefano RULES !!!

I’ve watched Days starting with first day it was on,except when working before vcr’s then never missed it! This was first time I wanted Stefeno to get the upper hand with someone. I can’t stand for EJ to be with Sami. It makes her look so stupid and she isn’t!
I would also like to see Marlena and John back for the memorial. I can’t wait to see what happens between Hope, (who truly loved her Gramps) and Bo, (who thought the world of Mrs. H and her donuts), who knows maybe this is what it will take to get them back together. I am also glad, Shane back, but how is KIm coming back so soon from being sick, but that would be good if she did. What about Belle and Shawn coming back. I have been watching Days since I was in school when my Mom also watched the show, and I am now 58, so I remember a lot of the shows history and the great loves.
I am so glad they are coming back for Grandma Horton Please bring back John and Marlena. They are DOOL to me; no “Days” with out John and Marlena! John could be a Priest, who has lost his memory and Marlena could marry Roman. They could have one last, colassal battle with Stefano. John dies a hero and Stefano is buried wth a cross through his heart!Marlena & Roman live happily ever after solving mysteries in Salem. That’s how I would do it.

It’s great that you are paying tribute to Alice Horton and that you are bringing back many of her family members. But in order to do a true tribute I really believe you need to bring back John and Marlena for this too. I hope that you do because then it will be a “TRUE” tribute to Francis Reid.
Days is just not the same without Marlena and John. PLEASE bring them back!

I would like to see more of John Aniston> He is a great actor with a wide range of talent.
Give him more on screen time and bring back Niko to help him and he would get things straightened out.
