Some Unfortunate Wrongdoing

By Gwen Morett, About.com

Anna arrives at Chez Rouge and sees Tony, ranting to herself how the last thing she needs to see is Tony fawning all over Kate. She is less than thrilled to see Morgan across the room, referring to her as Tony’s “needy neophyte.” She marches over to the bar and orders a top-shelf Martini. Tony approaches her and questions if she’s there on business or pleasure. “It’s funny Tony. I was just about to ask you the same thing,” retorts Anna. Tony claims he’s there on business and informs her that he’s there to dine with Kate in order to go over the marketing plan. Anna suggests that he might get lucky, noting that Kate is a very beautiful woman and she used to be “in the business of pleasure.” Anna surmises that if Tony plays his cards right, he and Kate could end their evening in bed. Anna saunters off as Tony is left bewildered by her suggestion.

Elsewhere, Morgan sits down with her father, who has a good feeling that his whole ordeal will work out in his favor. Morgan is delighted and assumes he’s getting his job back. Paul predicts that his reputation will be repaired, since the person who got him into this mess is trying to get him out. Morgan worries about him going to prison if he can’t get out of the current mess. Paul tries to assure her that won’t happen and suggests focusing on having a nice meal together.

Meanwhile, Marlena thanks John for the dinner invitation. John proposes celebrating, since she agreed to take him on as her “project.” “So this supper is about the ‘new’ us,” assumes Marlena, which John confirms. They make a toast as Marlena asks if John really wants to throw away what they had and start fresh. John knows he has a lot to prove, since she doesn’t want him to lose interest. She vows to never give up on him. John speculates that if he can connect with her, then he may be able to work his way up to actually connecting with his children. Anna approaches their table with a drink and a flirtatious smile. John invites her to sit. Marlena asks if she’s with Tony. Anna says no and reveals that she and Tony aren’t together anymore. Marlena asks if she can help in any way. Anna chuckles how she would ask Marlena to shrink his head and find out what’s wrong with him, but Tony is as thick as they come. “Fortunately some men are more perceptive about women. Like you John. I bet you know exactly what a woman like me wants,” flirts Anna. John refers to Anna as an interesting woman, although he doesn’t necessarily mean that as a compliment. He refers to her flirtation as inappropriate, especially since it’s in the middle of his date with Marlena. Anna claims she meant no disrespect. John confronts her about using him in order to make Tony jealous and affirms that her ways won’t work on him. A humiliated Anna excuses herself. John asks to have a word with Tony while Marlena proceeds to check on Anna.

Tony apologizes for Anna’s behavior and affirms that she was trying to make him jealous. John advises Tony not to ignore her too much longer. Tony denies doing this and refers to Anna as a very complicated woman. “And very attractive,” adds John, who implies that if he wasn’t married, he might just go after her. John assures Tony that when it comes to Anna, he has nothing to worry about, as Anna only has eyes for him. He then brings up Paul’s name and how he’s been accused of “some unfortunate wrongdoing” and would like Tony to spin it. Morgan and Paul approach them at that moment.

Marlena approaches Anna at the bar, who admits that she was acting like a fool and asks Marlena to forgive her. Marlena tries to assure Anna that she doesn’t have to flirt in order to get Tony. A tearful Anna asks Marlena to explain why the man she loves doesn’t treat her like a human being. Marlena insists that Tony adores her. Anna whines how Tony doesn’t respect her and refers to Marlena as a very lucky woman. “He’s not the man I fell in love with,” states Marlena. Anna can see how crazy John is about Marlena, but Marlena isn’t sure she sees it that way. “Well apparently you’re more blind than Tony is,” remarks Anna, who senses that the “new” John is completely enamored with Marlena. Marlena believes she’s being cautious or waiting for the old John to resurface. Anna advises her to not let the new John get away, as she can see that he has developed new feelings for Marlena. Marlena finds it all confusing. Anna jokingly advises her to make sure she figures out what she wants before some silly woman comes along and tries to take John away again.

“I told you I would help you rebuild your life,” states John to Paul. After Paul walks off, John informs Marlena that he asked Tony to do him a favor in regards to Paul. She asks him to dance, reminding him that he used to be a very good dancer. As they dance, John asks Marlena in her professional opinion how their date is going so far. She admits she’s glad she came out with him. He assumes that she’s thinking about the old John, but she says she was just into the new one. John implores her to face it that the new him is getting under her skin in a good way.

Morgan later thanks Tony for helping her father. She kisses him on the cheek and says she’ll see him at the office. Anna approaches Tony, who admits he’s flattered by her flirtation of John. He assures her that she already has him, but she just has to let him in. “Why? So I can take a number and get in line behind all the rest of the women in Salem?” retorts Anna, who tells him to have a nice evening with Kate.

At the pub, Max brings Grandma Caroline’s carrot cake over to the table, but Steph declines. He enjoys the cake and brings up Kayla knowing about Ava. Steph notes how weird it is that her dad hasn’t been with Kayla and thus she’s starting to worry. She hopes that the stress of the ordeal doesn’t hurt her mom or the baby. Max believes she’s getting way ahead of herself and tries to assure her that nothing bad will happen to her parents. Steph appreciates everything Max is doing, but just wants assurance that everything’s going to be okay. Max believes he may know someone who will be able to give her what she wants.
