Steph then approaches Max and says she and Morgan are cool, then asks him if they can talk. Max assumes its about her parents. Steph demurs that its about the two of them and how she feels about him. At the Vitali compound, Angelo and one of the guards, Mikey, enter Kaylas room. Kayla demands to know where everyone is and if theyre okay. Angelo claims theyre being taken care of and insists that they just focus on her, stating that they have a cozy little room set up for her. A stubborn Kayla wants to talk to Ava alone. Angelo begins to leave a veiled threat, but Kayla reminds him that shes carrying the baby that Ava wants, so hes not going to hurt her. Ava comes into the room and agrees to talk to Kayla alone. Angelo exits the room.
Kayla insists that Steve wasnt himself back then when he fell in love with Ava. Ava suggests that hes not himself now, since the man she fell in love with had an edge and wasnt afraid of anything. Well that man isnt coming back. And I think deep down you know that, states Kayla, who implores Ava to be realistic. Ava pops a pill and tells her to do the same. Kayla notices Avas pills and questions what they are, reminding Ava that shes a doctor so maybe she can help. Ava reluctantly tosses her pills in the air to Kayla, who questions where she got them. A vending machine, quips Ava. Kayla asks who prescribed them. Ava snatches them back and says theyre done. Kayla claims shes asking because she only wants her to get better. Avas convinced that Kayla doesnt give a damn about her, but Kayla insists that she needs to make sure that Avas healthy enough to take care of the baby Kaylas carrying. Ava promises to be a good mother. Kayla encourages her to talk about the drugs. Ava reveals that shes seen about half of the doctors in the state and they havent been able to help her. Thus, she doubts Kayla can. Kayla admits that shes seen and dealt with a lot of people in a similar situations. Ava assumes that Kayla thinks shes crazy, but Kayla denies this. You tried to kill yourself didnt you? assumes Kayla. By Avas silence, Kayla assumes shes right and asked when she tried to kill herself. Right after Patch left, replies Ava, who reveals that shes been on suicide watch ever since.
Kayla questions what Avas diagnosis was. Ava refers to her condition as brief psychotic disorder, which Kayla is familiar with. Its an illness thats triggered by a traumatic event, defines Kayla, who says the symptoms shouldnt have lasted for more than a month. Kayla suspects that her pills might be causing more harm than good and advises her to get a second opinion. My shrink was hand-picked by my father, explains Ava, who is convinced that her daddy wouldnt hire a quack. Kayla asks more questions about the pills, which annoys Ava. A paranoid Ava predicts that Kayla will go straight to Patch and turn him against her. Kayla claims that Steve only wants her to get better and encourages Ava to open up about the pills. She speculates that whoevers prescribing the pills doesnt have Avas best interests at heart, sensing that the pills are making her agitated rather than relaxed. You know what? Maybe its not the pills. Maybe its you! retorts a belligerent Ava.
Ava pounds on the door calling for Angelo and tells him to get Kayla out of there, but warns the goons not to hurt her. After the goon takes Kayla out, Ava smiles deviously and implies that she and Patch need to spend some up close and personal time together.
