At the police station, Abe speaks to the D.A. on the phone about the pending investigation regarding Paul Hollingsworth. Lexie arrives and is surprised that he hung up on the D.A for her. She admits she had a really bad time at work today and asks for a few minutes of his time. Abe asks about Chelsea. Lexie says she’s better, but because of the infection she won’t be able to have children. Abe realizes why his wife had such a hard day at work. Lexie can relate to what Chelsea’s going through and expresses how thankful she is to have Abe and Theo. Abe invites her to dinner and displays concern for his stressed-out wife. He proposes they start with some alone time right now, then share a kiss.
Bo enters Chelsea’s hospital room and brings her a stuffed dog, then asks her how she’s feeling. A glum Chelsea says she needs to live in the moment and not think about the fact that she can’t have kids. Bo reveals that he called Billie, who suggested having Marlena counsel Chelsea. Chelsea suggests dealing with it on her own. Hope puts a smile on Chelsea’s face when she brings Ciara for a visit. They are interrupted when a nurse requests to run a few more tests on Chelsea, implying that she might get to go home today. Chelsea asks where Daniel is. The nurse replies that Daniel’s not on call, which disappoints Chelsea. Chelsea notes how weird it is that Daniel left without saying good-bye. Bo and Hope offer to hang around during Chelsea’s tests, but Chelsea encourages them to go. Outside Chelsea’s room, a distressed Bo flashes back to being in her room upset over her condition.
Daniel is at the Brady Pub drinking when Kate approaches him. She wonders if he should be at the hospital watching Chelsea instead of hanging out drinking. Daniel reveals that he’s no longer on Chelsea’s case. Kate wants to know the reason why he took himself off of Chelsea’s case, since she’s worried about her and has a right to know. Daniel downs another drink and basically tells Kate that it’s none of her business, and she needs to direct her questions to Chelsea. Kate implores him to spill her what’s going on. Daniel claims that ethically, his hands are tied. Kate soon realizes that Daniel’s just as concerned as she is. She apologizes for being hard on him, but admits that when it comes to her family, sometimes she’s a little nuts. Daniel notes she’s been nothing but caring, which he would expect from someone related to Chelsea. He refers to Chelsea as an amazing young woman, which Kate agrees with. She thanks Daniel for everything he did for Chelsea, then walks away.
Nearby, Anna accidentally bumps into Tony, who is chatting on the phone, and knocks him on the floor. Tony is initially unaware that it’s Anna and calls her a klutz. She refers to him as rude. Tony apologizes and claims he was just venting. Anna notes that he’s not acting like his normal pompous self. Tony stammers and claims his mind is elsewhere. They sit down together as Tony admits that he’s concerned about Kate. Anna admits she feels terrible for Kate. She stops him from approaching Kate and point blank questions if there’s something going on between him and Kate. Tony professes to love Anna and only her. “Do you love me?” he questions before he kisses her. Anna chuckles, then expresses her insecurities, referring to Kate as a very powerful and beautiful woman. Tony assures Anna that she is powerful and beautiful too. “I don’t love Kate. I am in love with you,” he professes.
Steph enters the pub and puts her hand over Max’s eyes. “Guess who?” she asks. “Uh, Beyonce,” he jokes before he remarks how lucky he is to have her. He then asks about her parents. Steph replies that they’re exhausted and thanks him for saving her life, referring to him as her hero. He smiles that she’s much hotter than Beyonce. She chuckles at this and kisses him. Max proceeds to find out where his relief bartender is, then he’s all hers.
Max soon returns by Steph’s side and says he tracked Pete down. Steph notes how quickly it took. Max admits he emailed him, sent him a text message, and told him to get his butt down there ASAP. Max suggests she start thanking him for saving her life. They head up to his room together.
Up in Max’s room, Steph banters Max about not having music or candles. He jokes how he wasn’t ready for a romantic rendevous, then displays his lava lamp. Steph is amused, but doubts they’ll need it. They share a kiss before Steph assures him that wherever he is, it’s the most romantic place on earth for her. They engage in more passionate kissing. A beautiful slow song plays in the background as the clothes begin to come off and they are on the verge of making love. They fall onto the bed and the viewers at long last get treated to a hot romantic love scene.
After they make love and lie in each other’s arms, Max raves how making love to her feels right. “I have never felt more connected to anyone,” he confesses. Steph feels the same way and hopes what they have never changes. “Why would it?” he questions. She recalls how they had a few misfires when she arrived back in Salem. Max proposes that they take it easy and have fun. Steph happily seals the deal with a kiss, and it looks like they proceed to do the deed again.
Daniel takes another shot at the bar before he flashes back to Lexie asking him if he’s becoming emotionally involved with Chelsea. A distressed Daniel requests another drink from the bartender and tells him to keep them coming. He receives a call from Chelsea, who asks why he didn’t say good-bye before he left. Daniel apologizes and claims he just got caught up. Chelsea encourages him to come by and discharge her. He informs a confused Chelsea that he’s no longer her doctor, and he’s handing her case over to Dr. Carver. Chelsea says she wants him. Daniel states that he’s a surgeon and she’ll be in capable hands with Lexie. She thanks him for everything he did for her and Bo. Daniel expresses hope that everything gets back to normal for her.
