A disappointed Chelsea then phones Steph, who is in the middle of something hot and heavy with Max. Chelsea apologizes for bothering her, but insists that she needs to talk for a second. Steph implores her to spill what’s going on. “Daniel dumped me as his patient,” whines Chelsea. Steph is stunned and wonders how he could do that. Chelsea relays how Daniel mentioned that he’s a surgeon and post-op care is better suited for Dr. Carver. Steph apologizes and predicts she can still be friends with Daniel. A teary-eyed Chelsea notes that he was all business and professional on the phone and not very friendly. Chelsea fears she either scared him away or he decided to bolt because she can’t have kids. Steph vows to march downstairs and tell him off. Chelsea says he’s at the pub, then deduces that Steph’s upstairs in Max’s room. She insists that she needs to go when Nick walks into her room.
Nick is all smiles as he sits by Chelsea. He asks how much longer she’s in there for. Chelsea replies that she can leave today or tomorrow at the latest, depending on her test results. Nick is thrilled, but not Chelsea. She confesses that her infection left her unable to have kids. Nick displays concern and asks if she’s okay, wondering if Daniel can do anything. Chelsea says he was too late, then asks Nick how he feels about her not being able to have kids. “Chelsea, forget about me. This is about you. You mean everything to me,” he affirms. He professes to love her and hugs her. “You don’t know how much I needed to hear that,” she responds.
Abe and Lexie later make a toast at the pub to the two of them. He encourages her to share how she likes her job as the new chief of staff. She shares how it’s a lot of work between her patients and administrative duties. They agree that they both have busy lives. Lexie insists that they have to make time for Theo and for each other.
Kate later sits down with Tony when Anna approaches them and realizes that Kate’s going to be in the commercial. Tony shares how his idea is for Kate to become the next Martha Stewart, which elicits laughter from Anna. An amused Anna says no offense, but Kate’s not very homey. She can’t picture Kate wearing flannel, either. Kate admits she was a bit skeptical, but believes it will be a fun, great concept. Anna reveals that she has a fun, high-profile account herself. Tony is eager to hear about it. Kate excuses herself to give them a moment alone. Anna reveals that her fun, new client is John Black.
Kate approaches Lexie and wants to talk to her about Chelsea. Lexie invites her to sit down. Kate relays her earlier conversation with Daniel, in that Chelsea would be needing the support of her family. Lexie tries to assure Kate that Chelsea will be fine. Kate notes how sad Daniel seemed, which made her think that something was wrong. She wonders why Daniel would take himself off of Chelsea’s case. Lexie admits that Daniel felt he was becoming too emotionally involved in Chelsea’s case, so he felt it was best to back off.
Max and Stephanie come downstairs, where Steph marches over to an intoxicated Daniel ready to confront him. She stands up for Chelsea, insisting that she’s really vulnerable right now and needs to be around people whom she trusts. Max pulls Steph aside and tells her to think about what she’s doing. Steph stresses to Daniel that he’s really important to Chelsea, more than just a doctor. Daniel understands and is glad that Chelsea has some great friends. “Because with friends like you, she won’t need me,” insists Daniel. Steph disagrees. Max takes a peeved Steph away.
Anna coyly tells Tony that the account for John is still top secret and still in the formative stages. Tony questions what she’s advertising. Anna believes she’s said too much already and can’t discuss it with the competition. Tony reminds them of the moment they had when they shared a kiss and admitted how much they loved each other, so they can stop the stupid competition and just be together. Anna eagerly agrees to allow Tony to take her out for dinner. However, Kate approaches them and insists that she and Tony need to go to the fashion meeting, to Anna’s chagrin. Tony obviously would rather be with Anna and suggests coming by her hotel room later to “say hello.” Anna gives him the brush off and claims she has a business conflict and has a lot of calls to make.
Hope is holding Ciara and approaches Bo in the hospital waiting room, trying to assure him that what happened to Chelsea isn’t his fault. Bo states that if Chelsea hadn’t gone through with the transplant surgery, she wouldn’t be facing a life without kids.
Bo, Hope, and Ciara embrace in the hospital waiting room, while Nick and Chelsea hold each other. We see a distressed Daniel stand at the Brady Pub and take another shot. Abe and Lexie share a kiss and an embrace as the song “I’ll Never Let Go” plays by Jd Webb. Steph and Max are back upstairs on his bed. They kiss and are on the verge of making love.
