Steve announces to his “Sweetness” that he’s home. He briefs her on the car situation before she emerges from the bedroom ready to seduce him. He of course is up for staying in and entertaining each other. Kayla leads him into the bedroom where they reminisce over steaming up the windows in the back seat of their car. They share another kiss before Steve reminds her that there’s always adoption. A worried Steve cautions her that pregnancy can be risky. She tells him not to worry before she kisses him.
After they make love, Kayla leafs through papers on the research she did regarding women having babies. Steve worries that things could still go wrong and Kayla could be at risk. She promises Steve that she’ll have a complete physical and coaxes him to shake on the deal. He proposes they kiss on it instead. She happily agrees and professes to love him before they get hot and heavy again.
They later cuddle in bed together as Kayla remarks how she can’t wait to tell Stephanie that they’re trying to get pregnant. Steve discourages this idea, predicting that Steph will get grossed out at the thought of her parents making a baby. Steve then recalls how unhappy Stephanie was when they brought Pocket home, then surmises that something’s been bugging Stephanie. Kayla believes that Steph will come to them if that’s the case. Steve suggests he call Steph and try to get inside her head. Kayla implores him not to push. Steve vows to be there for Stephanie, insisting that she needs them more than she thinks she does.
At Lucas’s apartment, Sami attempts to soothe a fussy Johnny when Marlena drops by for a visit. Sami shares her frustration with over Johnny’s crying. Marlena speculates that it could be colic and advises Sami to ride it out. Sami then reveals how she found out that Lucas was at the church with a gun the night she married EJ. She displays doubts about his innocence, then takes Johnny into the bedroom.
Marlena later looks at a photo and changes the subject to Will, asking if he can come home for the holidays. Sami insists he doesn’t want to come home for Christmas and when she calls him he refuses to talk to her. Marlena surmises that he’s still angry. Sami agrees that he has a reason to be. She admits that if she would’ve known that marrying EJ would drive everyone she loved to show up at the wedding with a gun, she would’ve eloped instead Marlena reiterates her question if Sami thinks Lucas shot EJ. Sami doesn’t know, then admits that if someone would’ve told her that her mom would show up at her wedding with a gun, she would’ve said they were crazy. “Love makes people do crazy things,” Marlena theorizes. “So does hate. And I can’t think of anyone who hates EJ more than Lucas,” responds Sami. Sami rants how Lucas lied about being at home all night with the twins and found out from Bo that Lucas hired a nurse so he could head to the church. Marlena reminds her that there were two other shots fired at the church, one of which came from Kate. “Which means the other one had to be Lucas,” deduces Sami, who frets over Lucas going to jail and blames herself for driving Lucas to shoot EJ. Sami then admits that she’s been leading EJ to believe that she’s falling in love with him. She clarifies that she only told EJ that she had feelings for him because he was giving up on life. Marlena assumes that Stefano threatened her, which Sami confirms. Marlena rehashes what Sami put Lucas through in the past and can understand why Lucas would doubt her. “Well I guess that’s fair,” remarks Sami. Marlena urges her to fight back against the DiMeras and vows to make sure that John didn’t die in vain. Sami balks at her mom taking on the DiMeras and refers to it as crazy. “Then I’m crazy. I can live with that,” states Marlena. Marlena urges her to get the marriage annulled if she really loves Lucas. Sami insists she can’t, since she’d be putting targets on her back and on those of her children. Marlena urges her to take care of her family and assures her that everyone else in the family will take care of the rest.
Before Marlena leaves, she encourages Sami to think about what she said. “Ending my marriage to EJ is all I think about,” admits Sami. “Do more than think. It’s time to act,” urges Marlena. Sami then asks if she’ll be at Mrs. Horton’s for Christmas, but Marlena hasn’t decided. Sami tries to talk her into it, insisting that the family needs her. Marlena agrees to let her know, then leaves.
Max and Nick arrive at the sorority house. “Glad you guys are keeping the door locked with Ford Decker out on the loose,” quips Nick to Carmen. Max asks if Steph’s around, but Carmen says she’s out looking for Cordy. Carmen goes to get Chelsea upstairs for Nick. Max advises Nick to be cool around Chelsea and don’t push her. “More walk and less talk. That’s what Chelsea’s looking for,” insists the relationship expert Dr. Max Brady. Max also tells him not to beg or whine. Nick clarifies that he’s just honest about how he feels. The guys briefly banter about puppy love before Chelsea comes downstairs. Nick wonders what happened to the big emergency meeting. She replies that they had it and now it’s over, then asks if she forgot something at the restaurant. He responds by kissing her. “Are you crazy? You come all the way down here to do that?” she smiles. Nick expresses how excited he was to spend time with her at the restaurant, then proceeds to leave her alone. She asks to speak to him in the bedroom, which he agrees to. Morgan emerges and coyly reveals that she has a present for Max.
In her bedroom, Chelsea apologizes to Nick for bailing on him at Chez Rouge. Nick confronts her about telling Morgan on the phone that she couldn’t stop thinking about another guy. Chelsea admits she was talking about Ford Decker, who’s missing. She of course keeps mum as to why he’s missing.
Morgan comes back downstairs dressed in a sexy nightie and hands Max an early Christmas gift. Max is delighted to unveil an autographed picture of a famous race car driver and is quite impressed with her efforts.
