Chelsea tries to assure Caroline that Victor will be okay. Bo refers to Daniel as an amazing doctor, but informs Chelsea that this isn’t Victor’s first stroke. Bo assures Chelsea that he wants Victor to get well and they’ve reached an understanding. Chelsea is glad to hear him say that, affirming that Victor loves him a lot. Bo hugs Chelsea and assures her that Victor’s crazy about her too. “Well, that is because I am your daughter, and a part of what he created with the love of his life over here,” responds Chelsea, who believes that Victor’s never gotten over Caroline. Caroline assures her that Chelsea means the world to him. She states that Victor and everyone else have all made mistakes, but Victor’s got a good heart. Steph soon arrives and hugs Chelsea. Caroline encourages Steph to be with Max, sharing how she has mother’s intuition.
Back in Victor’s room, he struggles to talk to Daniel, who tells him to just relax and let the meds work. Steph, Chelsea, Bo, and Caroline wait outside Victor’s room and worry about him. Bo and Caroline agree that there’s not much that can keep Victor down.
Philip brings Kate some tea. Kate is in disbelief upon finding out about Lucas and Chloe, since she thought Lucas was madly in love with “what’s her name.” She questions what happened. Philip doesn’t know all the details, except that Lucas went to see her and slept with Chloe, then was busted for breaking house arrest. Kate is incredulous that Lucas risked his freedom and his life with his daughter. Philip declares that he and Chloe are finished. Morgan arrives.
Meanwhile, Chelsea tells Stephanie that she doesn’t need to stay, since she’s worried about Max. Steph shares her suspicion that Max is up to something.
Daniel emerges from Victor’s room and confirms to Caroline and Kate that Victor’s had another stroke, but he doesn’t know the extent of the damage yet. He’s given Victor a drug known as TPA (Tissue Plasminogen Activator). He believes there’s a very good chance it could work, since Victor got to the hospital on time. He cautions that sometimes TPA can sometimes cause bleeding in the brain, but in this case the potential benefits far outweigh the risks. He tells the ladies that Victor asked to speak to both of them, but implores them to be brief. They arrive by his side. “I’m leaving behind my sons. Your sons. I feel proud of them both,” declares a weak Victor.
Chelsea and Bo approach Daniel and ask about Victor. Daniel informs them that Victor has some speech back and tells them that Victor requested to speak to both Caroline and Kate. Bo asks if Victor’s going to make it.
Meanwhile, Philip expresses his gratitude to Morgan for calling him about Victor. He questions if she’s heard anything about Paul, but she has nothing besides the letter found in his luggage. Philip encourages her not to give up hope. Morgan vows to make the someone pay for hurting Paul.
Kate and Caroline emerge from Victor’s room and relay that Victor wants to see his sons. Daniel tells them to keep it brief. Chelsea encourages Caroline to go to the pub and assures her that she’ll call if anything changes. They exchange hugs and “I love yous” before Caroline leaves. Chelsea looks in on Victor with Bo and Philip. Meanwhile, Kate admits to Daniel how glad she is that Chelsea has him to lean on. “Are you sure about that?” he questions. “All I want is for her to be happy. And she can never find out what happened between us, because it would kill her,” she warns as Chelsea is nearby.
Back at the pub, Max soon comes downstairs with his bags packed intent on leaving for Europe. Pete asks him what’s up with Europe and why he doesn’t want anyone to know about it. Max says it’s a long story and will tell him about it when he returns. He asks Pete to keep it under wraps.
A conflicted Max begins to write goodbye letters to Stephanie and Caroline. He soon hands them to Pete, who ensures Max that he’ll give them to Steph and Caroline. Max thanks him and assures him that he’s a good friend. Pete wishes him luck. Max then goes behind the bar and stares at a picture of Grandpa Shawn, then flashes back to visiting him at his grave, talking to him about his abusive biological father, and confessing how he loved Stephanie. Max leaves the pub through the back entrance just as Stephanie arrives. She approaches Pete and asks her usual infamous question, “Is Max around?” Pete says she just missed him and hands her the letter from Max.
Back at the station, Hope asks Lucas how it felt being processed again and knowing he’s going back to prison. She encourages him to open up and tell her what the hell he was thinking. Lucas claims he was reacting. She tells him that he’s breaking her heart and breaking Sami’s heart. Lucas implies that Sami would be very devastated if she found out what happened. He vows not to lose his daughter again and believe he’ll figure another way out.
Chloe is standing outside the pub for some odd reason and flashes back to her encounter with Lucas in the elevator when she admitted to feeling guilty and he wondered if they were using each other. She comes back to reality and blames herself for Lucas being back in jail. She then sits down and calls her mom, Nancy, needing to talk. She fills her mom in on the Lucas/Philip drama.
