Nearby, Max affirms to Steph that hes going to see his father and implores her not to talk him out of it. Steph suggests he wait when hes not so angry. Are you kidding me? Hes the one who turned up in Salem and turned my world upside down! rants Max. Max declares that hes going to tell everyone in Salem the truth, in that Trent Robbins is a ruthless, heartless bastard. Steve urges Max to calm down and warns him that he could be making a mistake if he does that. He urges Max to get the truth and make sure that Trent is the monster whom Max says he is. Kayla backs her husband up on this.
Chloe tells Roman her story about running into Paul, lying how strong the gasoline smell was. Morgan marches over to the table and insists that Chloes lying, believing that she only wants to get back at Morgan because Chloe saw her kissing Philip. Roman tells a hotheaded Morgan to leave. Morgan urges Roman to go question John Black, then proceeds to go find John herself. Roman asks Chloe what Paul Hollingsworth was wearing the night she saw him. Chloe claims it was dark and she wasnt paying attention to his clothes. She asks to get a glass of water first, but Roman offers to get it. While Roman makes a call to put out an APB on Paul, a nervous Chloe sends a text message to Lucas.
At the DiMera mansion, Marlena tells John that the disk could be the key to their future. If what youre saying is true, then that disk is stolen property, surmises John. Lucas listens in from the other room as Marlena states that the disk contains all the memories of who John was. Right Rolf? she asks, as she insists that he made the disk. Rolf denies doing such a thing, claiming shes been seriously misinformed. I know you did this Rolf. And now I want you to undo it, she demands. Rolf continues to deny doing any such thing, but Marlena accuses him of lying. Rolf tries to convince John that Marlenas wrong and cant be done. Marlena disagrees, bringing up how research is being done on brain mapping, memory loss and retrievals to assist in diseases like Alzheimers. Lucas enters the room and notes that Johns been way too quiet considering what shes talking about. Im just weighing my options, says John. Lucas suggests he read the disk. John reveals that he already did and its encrypted. Marlena says she knows whats on it, as her reliable source informed her that there are certain brain wave patterns on the disk.
Marlena believes that Rolf knows whats on the disk, rehashing how he was working for Stefano and was the mastermind behind what happened to John. Rolf swears he had nothing to do with it. How did you get it? Or have you had it all along? questions John. Marlena flashes back to Philip making her promise not to tell John that it came from him. She comes back to reality and reveals that the person who gave it to her made her promise not to get them involved. The real question is, why would Philip care? confronts John, who accuses her of protecting the enemy. She insists that the disk is the key to unlocking his memories and can give them a future together. Lucas offers to help John, since hes been doing some research on computer security. Rolf claims hes a medical man and has no experience with computer technology. Marlena refers to this as nonsense and suggests there must be something in his lab which might help them access the disk. Rolf believes shes setting herself up for a big disappointment. John declares that nobodys doing anything to the disk until Marlena reveals her source. Marlena refuses to break her word to her source. Arent you dying to discover whats on here and what this quack and your half-brother did to you? she asks John. Mildly curious, perhaps, answers John. She asks him to force Rolf to access the data so they know what theyre dealing with. John isnt so sure hed like to subject himself to the risk. Lucas receives a text message from Chloe and goes into the foyer. What was Paul wearing? he reads. He struggles to remember what Paul was wearing that night.
Meanwhile, Marlena asks John why getting his memory back would be a risk. Rolf tries to convince John that it could be a scam. How do that I know I wont end up even more screwed up than you already think I am? he questions. I hadnt thought of that, admits Marlena. He refuses to take the risk.
Back at the pub, Roman brings Chloe a glass of water. She tries to stall and claims Paul was wearing a dress shirt, but she cant remember the color. She receives a text message from Lucas just in the nick of time, but lies that its her attorney. Roman needs her to come down to the station for a formal statement. She agrees and tells Roman that Paul was wearing a gray suit and a dress shirt with stripes on it, but no tie. She wonders what will happen to Morgans dad if he is guilty. Roman believes Paul can cut himself a deal if he discloses who he was working for. Otherwise, hell go to prison. Chloe surmises that Paul did this to get back at John Black, believing neither John nor Philip would do something so reckless or dangerous as setting the warehouse on fire.
Max asserts to Steve and Kayla that his birth father was scum and threw him into foster care without ever looking back. Kayla tries to suggest that his father might be a different man now, but Max disagrees. He intends to deal with his father however and whenever he wants, then leaves.
Morgan sits with Philip and shares how worried she is about her father. Philip tries to assure her that her fathers probably lying low somewhere, then promises to make sure John pays if hes behind it. She thanks him and kisses him.
Back at the DiMera mansion, Lucas wonders if Chloe got his text message. In the living room, John demands the disk so he can get rid of it, but she refuses. Marlena believes that having the disk is a sign that they are on the right track. He demands the name of her source. She refers to her source as highly trustworthy, but its not good enough for him. She insists on having Rolf access the disk, but Rolf continues to deny knowing anything.
