Back in Chelsea’s room, she thanks Daniel for saving her dad. Daniel affirms that he couldn’t have done it without her. She apologizes for getting wasted beforehand. “The words ‘drink responsibly’ should be part of your lexicon,” advises Daniel. He then asks her to rest. Steph enters, where Daniel asks her to make sure Chelsea gets some rest. After Daniel leaves the room, a beaming Steph remarks how hot the doctor is. “He’s like a TV star with a scalpel!” exclaims a giddy Steph. Steph cracks a joke about Daniel looking at her pancreas too, then asks how she’s feeling. Chelsea admits she’s tired and sore, but okay. Steph asks about Bo’s surgery. Chelsea relays how Dr. Jonas said his surgery went well, and so far no complications. Steph marvels how amazing it is that she saved her dad’s life, then asks if Dr. Jonas is single. A smiling Chelsea rolls her eyes and tells her to shut up.
Steph later displays Steve’s origami fixture to Chelsea. She mentions how there were a lot of people waiting during the surgery, including Nick. Unfortunately Nick had to go and teach, but he said he’s coming right back. Steph states how proud of Chelsea she is. Chelsea admits she’s proud of herself as well. Steph notes how Chelsea and Daniel seemed to hit it off. Chelsea recalls how she and Daniel were going at it last night when she was drunk. Steph notes that it sounds pretty hot. A beaming Chelsea admits how good Daniel made her feel when he told her what a good job she did. “I haven’t been this happy in a really long time,” smiles Chelsea.
Chelsea later proceeds to go see her dad, but Steph discourages her from getting out of bed. Steph offers to go to Bo’s room and get a full detailed report. She gives Chelsea drink of water, then Chelsea marvels how a part of her might help her dad live. They agree that it’s a life-changing miracle. Chelsea states her intention to keep her promise to her dad that she’ll get well.
Lexie emerges from Bo’s room and informs Max, Shawn, Belle, and Philip that Bo’s surgery went well and so far there haven’t been any complications. She agrees to allow them to briefly see Bo. He admits that he cares about her and wants her and Shawn to be happy. Belle wants him to be happy as well and implies that she and Shawn aren’t going to be close by. She then explains how she and Shawn have decided to sail around the world when Bo’s better. Philip assumes that he’ll never see Claire again, but Belle tries to assure him otherwise. “All I can say is bon voyage. I’ll miss you,” he says before he embraces her. Belle gets teary-eyed as she hugs her ex.
Hope confesses to Bo that he had the surgery and she signed the consent papers. She affirms that Chelsea wanted to do it because she loves him. Caroline commends Dr. Jonas on the job he did and marvels how brave Chelsea was. She also praises Kayla and Lexie, noting how relentless the chief of staff is. Caroline refers to Shawn as steady as a rock, then mentions how Roman and Abe was there. A teary-eyed Caroline tells Bo that Hope hasn’t slept or eaten for days, but she was there the whole time to see him through this. She is overcome with emotion as she knew that Grandpa Shawn wouldn’t let them down.
Kate approaches Daniel in the hall and requests to speak to him. “Sure you wouldn’t rather punch me?” retorts Daniel. She asks how Chelsea’s really doing. Daniel states that she’s young and healthy, so she’ll recover quickly. An overprotective Kate wants to make sure that he’s checking in on her regularly. She promises that if he doesn’t make sure Chelsea heals completely, he’ll have her to deal with. Daniel assures her that Chelsea will be out of the hospital soon.
Hope continues to sit by a sleeping Bo when Dr. Jonas enters. He asks how Bo’s doing. Hope informs him that Bo woke up for a little bit, then notes how pale Bo looks. Daniel assures her that it’s to be expected. He brings her up to speed on Chelsea, then tells her to go outside so he can examine Bo. Hope emerges from Bo’s room and tells Roman, Shawn, and Belle that Caroline went to the chapel to pray. Shawn asks about his dad. Hope informs him that Daniel’s with him and hopes that the worst is behind them.
Daniel later informs Shawn, Belle, Philip, Roman, and Hope that Bo’s surgery went well and there were no complications, noting Bo’s stubborn determination. If Bo’s body doesn’t reject Chelsea’s pancreas, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t make a full recovery. Hope expresses her gratitude for everything Daniel’s done. Back in Bo’s room, a perspiring Bo awakens as he calls out for Hope.
Steve and Kayla return home, where he showers the place with yellow rose petals. Kayla is giddy as Steve is eager to celebrate with champagne. She reminds him that she can’t drink in her condition. He says he’s kidding and it’s cider they have to toast to Dr. Kayla Johnson. Kayla proposes they toast to Lexie and Dr. Jonas as well. “I’ll toast them, but you’re the only doctor I wanna kiss,” he states before they take a drink and share a kiss. Steve then hands her the remote and says affirms that the only thing she’s allowed to do is relax. He proceeds to get them something to eat and playfully talks to his baby as Kayla chuckles. After he leaves, Kayla begins to experience cramping.
Steve later returns home and kisses Kayla. He admits that when he was watching Bo and Hope in the hospital, he realized how lucky they are. When Steve gets up to fetch her some water, Kayla has cramping again.
