Sharing a Vital Gland

By Gwen Morett, About.com

Philip joins Max at the Java Café and notes that he looks lost in thought. Max is wondering what’s going on at the docks, since Paul quarantined a couple of Kiriakis shipments, then Victor accuses John Black of being behind it. Philip asks him to keep it all to himself, which is fine with Max since he doesn’t want to be caught in a war between the Kiriakises and “Stefano’s half-brother.” Philip questions what the story is with Morgan, noting how cute she is. An overprotective Max warns him not to use Morgan to get to her father. Philip says he would never do that, but Max is dubious. Max proceeds to get going, as he wants to wish Stephanie luck before she starts her new internship.

Morgan and Stephanie bring balloons, stuffed animals, and flowers for Chelsea at the hospital. The girls are excited about Chelsea possibly being released later that day. Morgan encourages Chelsea to get an internship as soon as she’s released, but Chelsea honestly doesn’t know what she wants to do yet. She is happy that she was able to do this for her dad. The girls leave to go to their respective internships.

Morgan and Stephanie arrive at the Java Café and order two Mocha Lattes. Philip offers to treat them, but the ladies wonder if he has an ulterior motive. Stephanie asks why he bought their coffees for them. “Because I saw two beautiful women in desperate need of caffeine,” states the charming Philip. He then confesses that he wanted to make up for being rude to Morgan’s father, admitting that he was out of line. Morgan suggests he apologize to her father. Philip says he will as soon as their shipments are out of quarantine.

After Philip leaves, Morgan wonders what he really wanted. Stephanie notes that he’s a Kiriakis, so chances are they’ll never know what his motives are. Steph asks Morgan if she’s nervous or excited about the first official day of their internships. Morgan admits that she’s both and hopes that working at competing firms doesn’t affect their friendship. The girls giggle about Tony and Anna having the hots for each other. Steph suspects that Tony is hotter for Anna than she is for him, but Morgan thinks that Anna’s playing hard to get. The girls agree not to get involved. Morgan and Steph’s professor approaches them, along with two other young men, and informs them that they need to record their internships for discussion and evaluation in order to help ascertain their grade. He announces that they will both be followed by cameramen who document everything and who will receive credit for their project. The professor introduces David Chapman to Steph and introduces Mark Keener to Morgan. The girls feign excitement.

Kate visits Tony at his ad agency and announces that she’s decided to use his firm to do her company’s advertising and promotion. Tony of course is delighted and is eager to set up a presentation. Anna then phones Kate and asks her which company she’s decided to use in marketing her new product line. Kate announces that she’s decided to go with Tony’s firm, but reveals that she’s thinking of a second line which she’ll be selling online and in magazines. Anna isn't too pleased by Kate’s decision.

Kate later notes how disappointed and a little angry Anna seemed. Tony relays how he told Anna that she should’ve never gone into competition against him and asked her to join forces with him, but she turned him down. Kate admits that Anna’s not one of her favorite people, but she did have some impressive ideas. Tony’s secretary then brings in drinks to celebrate. After he pours, he accidentally spills a drink on Kate’s blouse. He apologizes and attempts to wipe it off just as Morgan and Mark enter to witness the incident. “Do you always walk into your boss’s office without knocking?” asks Kate. An embarrassed Morgan apologizes. Tony questions what’s with the camera. Morgan explains the circumstances. Tony gives Morgan the good news that Kate decided to go with his firm for her advertising and promotion. Morgan is excited and congratulates them. Philip arrives and is surprised to see his mom there, along with Morgan. Mark puts the camera on Philip and a blushing Morgan. Philip reveals that he and Morgan met down on the docks and her father works for customs. Morgan thanks Philip again for the coffee at the Java Café. Tony wonders if Phil’s there to see him or his intern. Phil proposes hiring Tony for an ad campaign to promote his shipping line. This interests Tony, so Philip offers to have his secretary call him and arrange a presentation. Philip notes that he hasn’t heard his mother mention a thing about using Kiriakis shipping to import items in her line that are being manufactured overseas. “So send me a proposal,” implores Kate. Philip shakes hands with Tony, then tells Morgan that it was nice seeing her again. “You too. And hopefully I can be proud of that team that services your needs,” she flirts as she shakes hands with him. After Tony, Kate, and Philip walk out, Morgan growls to Mark that she hates him.

Anna is later on the phone with her ghost boss, Mr. Lombard, and tries to convince him that once Kate sees the figures from the product line, then she’ll dump Tony’s company in a “New York minute.” Mr. Lombard warns her that her job in on the line. Steph and David arrive, where Steph explains the camera situation. Anna warns David that he’s in big trouble if anything shows up on the Internet. Steph makes the introductions when Max arrives with flowers. Anna takes Steph’s flowers to put them in water. Max and Steph feel a bit awkward with the camera on them, but share a kiss anyway. David apologizes for the intrusion, but states that he’s supposed to capture everything. Steph suggests getting together later. An annoyed Max is anxious to talk to her about some things going on down at the pier and gives her a brief smooch good-bye.
