Lexie enters Bo’s room and asks the attending nurse how he’s doing. The nurse notes that his vitals are strong and stable, but he’s tossed and turned quite a bit. Bo wakes up and asks where Hope is. Lexie reminds him that she went home to spend some time with Ciara and rest. Bo tells Lexie that he dreamed about Hope and kept trying to reach her, but couldn’t. Bo is concerned when Hope’s cell phone goes straight to voice mail. He worries when Hope doesn’t answer at home either. He calls his mom and asks if she’s heard from Hope, then is stunned to learn that Ciara’s still with Caroline. Lexie tries to assure him that Hope’s just trying to catch up on some much needed sleep. A nurse wheels Chelsea into Bo’s room, which makes him smile.
Chelsea sits down on the bed beside her dad and smiles how she might get to go home today. “I could beat you with a stick for doing what you did, but thank you. You saved my life,” he admits as he takes her hand. “I love you Dad,” she professes as she rehashes how she caused him pain and disappointment when she entered his life. She expresses how happy she is that he’s going to be okay. They share a warm embrace. She asks if he knows when he’ll be able to get out of there, but he says it won’t be soon enough for him. Chelsea wonders where Hope is. Bo predicts that she went home and is getting some well deserved rest. Chelsea remarks how good home sounds and how she can have Nick bring over some magazines, ice cream, and DVD’s, then see if Dr. Jonas makes house calls. Bo marvels how incredible Dr. Jonas is and how he performs the transplant like it’s nothing. They both express how thankful they are to have each other. “We share a vital organ,” states Bo. “The pancreas is not an organ. It’s a gland,” clarifies Chelsea. Bo jokes how “vital gland” just doesn’t have the same rank. Chelsea then asks if Bo wants to rest, but Bo says that’s all he’s been doing. She offers to stay until Hope gets back.
Bo later calls Steve and asks if he’s heard from Hope, but no such luck. Chelsea asks if he’s worried that something could be wrong with Hope, but Bo claims she’s probably just exhausted, although he appears worried nonetheless. A nurse tells Chelsea that it’s time to go back to her room. Chelsea promises to visit her dad every single day until he comes home. “Hey Kid. I love you,” he says. “I love you too,” she responds.
Abe finds Lexie at the hospital and asks about Bo. She informs him that the transplant was a success. He shares how he was interviewing a mugging victim and stopped by to see if she’d be finished soon. She apologizes for not being done with her duties, but believes she should be home in time to put Theo to bed. Abe reveals that he’s covering the 12-8 shift for an officer whose wife is having a baby. A frustrated Lexie wonders when they’re ever going to find time to be together. The Carvers discuss their hectic schedules and how little time they have for each other and are determined to find a way to spend more time together. They both state in unison that they need to get back to work. Abe chuckles and tells Lexie that he loves her, and vice versa.
In Ava’s room, Hope finds a device to pick the lock but quickly puts it away when she hears Ava re-entering. Ava brings her some food and warns her not to try to escape or mess with her cousin Angelo right outside the door. Hope urges her to discuss Steve and the two of them. “Because then I’m going back to my husband,” she affirms. “Don’t you ever call him that! He was in love with me long before he met you!” seethes Ava as she grabs Hope’s arm. Ava states that she and “Patch” were in love and just wants a little conversation with Hope, who states that stress isn’t good for a pregnant woman. Hope would be more willing to talk if she knew Ava would let her go. “Really? God, and here I thought we were just becoming friends,” quips Ava. “Friends don’t chloroform friends and kidnap them to hold them prisoner,” stresses Hope. Hope then questions why her father keeps her locked up in there, but Ava refuses to discuss the issue.
Hope introduces herself as Kayla Johnson and extends her hand. “What exactly do you want? And how long and I gonna be here?” demands Hope. Ava wants Patch to join them and is convinced that he’ll realize that he made the biggest mistake of his life. “He’s gonna dump you and your unborn brat and he’s gonna come back to me,” predicts a smug Ava. An angry Hope warns Ava that Steve wasn’t happy about the threatening note which Ava sent. “That’s because he thinks that he loves you,” claims Ava. Hope confronts her about the plane crash, which Ava claims was an accident. Hope demands to know why she sabotaged the plane. Ava insists she did it to keep the plane grounded and so she could get Patch back again. Hope fumes how three people died because of her, including her father (Grandpa Shawn). “Don’t you feel guilty about it at all?” yells Hope, who refers to her as crazy. Ava warns Hope not to call her crazy.
Ava recalls how she and Patch were going to be together forever, until one day he was gone and she didn’t handle it very well. She reiterates her determination to get Patch back. Hope suspects that Ava is mentally ill and tries to convince Ava that she doesn’t need a man to complete her. “Patch and I are soulmates. We complete each other,” states Ava. “Kind of smug for a woman trapped... in her own castle,” notes Hope. Ava admits how much it still hurts that Patch left, then begins to get a headache. Hope questions why she wants Steve back if he caused her so much pain. “Because I love him!” exclaims Ava. “So do I!” declares Hope. “No you don’t!” yells an angry Ava. Hope refers to Ava as delusional. “Don’t underestimate me Kayla,” warns Ava. Hope continues to play along and remarks how clever Ava’s been so far, figuring out that she’s Kayla Johnson and that she’s pregnant, kidnapping her, and causing a plane to crash. Ava wants to get Patch there and believes that it’s only a matter of time before he takes her back. She proposes that “Kayla” call Patch and tell him exactly what Ava tells her to.
