At the hospital, Lexie wheels Bo back into his room after his round of tests. “Once more around the park, Dear Lady,” jests Bo, which makes Lexie laugh. She admits that most patients aren’t that cheerful after being poked and prodded. Bo notes that most patients don’t get a limo ride back to their room by the chief of staff. Lexie encourages him to drop the brave act with her. Bo admits that his stomach hurts all the time. She wants to keep him off the pain medication for now if he can stand the discomfort, but if it gets too bad she’ll prescribe something. Bo recalls how excited and hopeful everyone got when Victor brought Dr. Jonas in for a consultation. He confesses that he couldn’t make it through this ordeal without her. Lexie is touched by his words. Bo assures Lexie that she’s more than just a doctor. She’s also a friend. Lexie warns him that his fight won’t be easy, but he has Dr. Jonas, who is a real asset to the medical team. Bo admits he’d feel a lot better if she keeps an eye on him. She promises to do so.
Sami and EJ bring Johnny and Allie to the pub. Caroline takes Johnny from Sami and marvels over him. When he starts fussing, Caroline offers to take him and feed him and Allie. Sami and EJ then sit down together and order food. She proposes that they discuss his latest problem and warns him that the government will deport him if he doesn’t find a solution.
After their food arrives, EJ wonders why Sami’s putting ketchup on hers, since she doesn’t like tomatoes. They banter back and forth about their condiment choices before Sami changes the topic back to EJ’s potential deportation. An immigration agent by the name of Leonard Burke approaches them and needs to speak to EJ. EJ has his mouth full of food and extends his hand and invites the agent to call him EJ. “Call me Mr. Burke,” instructs the less than cordial agent. Mr. Burke claims that he had a hard time tracking EJ down. EJ cracks a joke before informing Mr. Burke that the FBI put him in safe house. “Why were you in a safe house?” questions the agent. EJ reveals that he was instrumental in putting his criminal father behind bars. Mr. Burke asks Sami to excuse them, but Sami wants to stay for EJ’s interview. “I prefer to talk to Mr. DiMera alone. That means go away,” asserts Mr. Burke. Sami walks off and watches from afar.
Mr. Burke asks EJ if he’s gainfully employed. EJ replies that he doesn’t technically have a job, but jokes how being married to Sami is a full-time job. EJ assumes that being married to a U.S. citizen will take care of his visa problems. Burke agrees, but states that many of the marriages are in name only just so someone can stay in the country. EJ informs him that he and Sami share a child together, so his problems should be over. Mr. Burke warns EJ that his problems are just beginning. EJ brings up the fact that he’s broke and has a family to support and doesn’t have a job. Mr. Burke informs him that the government is clearing out “undesirables.” “You’re a DiMera. That’s about as undesirable as it gets,” he affirms. EJ refutes that he’s no longer a DiMera, since he was disowned by the family. Sami approaches them and backs EJ up. Mr. Burke states that as far as the U.S. Government is concerned, the sooner the whole DiMera family leaves the country, the better. EJ believes it’s a little extreme to be kicked out of the country for being a DiMera, but according to Mr. Burke the government doesn’t think so. Mr. Burke has a few questions for Sami in regards to her marriage. EJ cracks a jokes before Mr. Burke asks him to leave them alone. EJ obliges and walks away.
“Did you marry Mr. DiMera for love?” asks the agent. Sami dances around the question and reiterates that she and EJ have a child together. Mr. Burke confronts her with the knowledge that she was married to Lucas Horton when she got pregnant with twins by two different fathers. He also brings up the scandal that EJ forced her into sex and forced her into the marriage. EJ doesn’t appear so jovial anymore after the ugly stuff is dredged up. Sami gets defensive as she accuses Mr. Burke of calling her a slut. Mr. Burke doesn’t believe they have a marriage based on love. “And what would you know about love you dried-up, paper-pushing bureaucrat?” retorts Sami, who attracts attention from the other customers. A furious Sami rants about being in love and demands that he leave right now. Mr. Burke agrees to leave, but warns her that he’ll be back with an order for EJ to leave the country. EJ looks quite impressed with his feisty wife. He praises Sami and refers to her as brilliant. She warns him that the ordeal is far from over.
EJ and Sami sit back down and finish eating. He states his intentions to do everything he can to stay in the country, which includes getting a job and proving that his past as a DiMera is behind him. He asks Sami if he can count on her.
Hope finds Chelsea on the pier and asks how she’s doing. Chelsea admits that she misses Grandpa. Hope says she does too. Chelsea doesn’t know what she’ll do if Bo doesn’t make it. Hope assures her otherwise. Chelsea notes that her dad has Dr. Jonas now. Hope embraces her. Chelsea rehashes all the stupid and horrible things she did to hurt Bo. Hope assures her that Bo loves her. Chelsea apologizes for hurting Hope as well. Hope says it’s in the past. Chelsea laments not telling Grandpa Shawn that she loved him more. Hope assures her that Grandpa Shawn knows and that Bo’s a fighter. Chelsea brings up Dr. Jonas. Hope wishes that she knew more about him and doesn’t exactly like putting her husband’s life into the hands of a total stranger. Daniel then approaches the ladies and states that technically, they’re no longer strangers. Hope apologizes to the doctor for implying that he’s not a competent doctor. Daniel displays understanding and assures Hope that he will do his very best to save her husband. Hope thanks him. Daniel is aware that Victor and Bo have had some difficulties. “Let’s just say that, Victor hasn’t always behaved admirably,” rehashes Hope. Daniel asks Hope to just trust him. “I do. I trust you completely,” affirms Chelsea.
