Just Another DNA Test

From , former About.com Guide

Bo and Abe meet up with Roman, where he introduces them to Harry Jenks, the suspect in John’s hit and run. Bo demands to know who hired him to run over John Black. Harry denies knowing John, EJ Wells, or Stefano DiMera and refuses to speak anymore without his lawyer. “You’re lucky I don’t put you in a body bag,” fumes Bo, who’s convinced that Harry’s lying. Abe phones for a squad car to pick up EJ in an effort to prove that Harry’s full of it. Bo warns Harry that he’s going to jail for murder. Abe reveals that Harry is an alias and his real name is Jake Gennaro, who just finished up a stint in the state prison for armed robbery. EJ then arrives, per Abe’s request. Bo observes as EJ and Harry exchange glances. EJ claims he’s never seen Harry before in his life, referring to him as a “credent.” Be tells EJ to get out of there. “You’re quite welcome, anytime,” quips EJ. Roman suspects that the DiMeras had nothing to do with John’s death. Abe then reveals that Jake Gennaro’s cell mate was Andre, which Jake denies. Roman then discovers that Jake has Andre’s number on speed dial. Abe officially arrests Jake as Roman declares that the DiMeras put the hit out on John. Bo wonders what they’re going to tell Sami. “We are not going to tell Sami anything,” declares Roman. The brothers disagree over revealing the truth to Sami. Roman proceeds to go see Sami and refuses to break her heart with the news, especially since she just gave birth.

In Sami’s hospital room, Lucas softly kisses Sami’s head before he speaks lovingly to the twins. He declares that they’re everyone they’ve ever loved, including Caroline, Shawn, Roman, and Marlena. “Oh one more thing. Your daddy loves you already,” he says. Lucas hears the little girl squirming and holds her. He then imagines what his life will be like in a few years. We see Lucas and his six-year-old daughter in the year 2013 at the Brady Pub. His daughter is whining that he has a green star instead of a gold star. EJ and Sami enter with the boy and Sami embraces her daughter. EJ announces that little Johnny won first place in a horse competition. The little girl then begs Lucas for a horse, but he says they can’t afford it since she’s taking violin lessons instead. Spoiled Johnny then brings up the name Jonathan Martin, whom EJ states is the first violinist with the Cleveland Orchestra. Lucas clarifies that the girl is studying with her music teacher at school. EJ proceeds to take the boy to fencing lessons. Sami looks at Lucas longingly before they leave. The girl whines about Johnny getting to have everything while she doesn’t, then declares that she hates Lucas.

Back to reality, Lucas holds his baby girl and admits he doesn’t care if his kid’s not a prodigy on the violin or riding to the hounds as long as he or she doesn’t inherit the bad stuff from him. Lucas has another nightmare of Johnny as a teenager entering the pub with his buddies poking fun at his sister for her weight. The three obnoxious jerks approach the girl and ridicule her. Johnny then declares that the place is for losers and proposes that they blow the dump, leaving the girl to cry looking at the shots of alcohol on the bar. Lucas assures his baby girl that he won’t allow her to make the same mistakes he did.

Lucas later approaches a sleeping Sami and vows to do everything he can to protect his kid. He has another nightmare with his grown-up girl kneeling at his and Sami’s graves. Johnny approaches her and notes that it’s a pity they died so young. “My father died of a broken heart. And so did my mother,” she cries. “And you’re gonna die of cirrhosis of the liver,” predicts a hateful Johnny. The girl insists that Sami never stopped loving her dad. She then asks Johnny to loan her some money. He tosses it on the ground and remarks how it’s for booze so she can die a little quicker. She sits alone and sobs.

Sami later wakes up, remarking how she feels as though she got hit by a mack truck. She asks Lucas where the twins are. Lucas says they’re off getting a bath, joking how they worked up a sweat. She shares a brief smooch with her present husband before Roman enters bearing gifts and marveling how incredible the twins are. He presents her with two teddy bears and flowers. Sami then reveals that EJ is demanding more DNA tests, which Lucas is nervous about. Roman is incredulous, since they already had a test. Sami fills him in on the chat Marlena had with the lab tech. She then changes the subject to the investigation of John’s killer. Roman claims they’re running down some leads, keeping mum about Jake Gennaro. Before he leaves, Roman assures them that EJ won’t break up their family.

Lucas later remarks how strangely Roman was acting. Sami notes how upset Roman seemed about the DNA test more than she thought he would be. Sami believes that the DNA test will prove that Lucas is the father of both of the children and EJ will just have to shut up about it. Lucas claims EJ’s trying to sink his hooks into one of the babies in order to be a part of her life. “He’s a DiMera, Sami. He’s not gonna stop until he gets you into his bed,” insists Lucas. Sami affirms it will never happen. “I want him out of our lives, and I want him out of our kids’ lives for good,” asserts Lucas, who suggests they leave Salem for good. Sami balks at this idea, since EJ will go after the people whom they love the most. He assures her that he’ll always love her no matter what.

At the pub, Shawn tells Philip to leave Belle alone. Philip, though, claims that Belle’s miserable. Shawn orders him to get out. Philip declares that he’ll always love Belle and vice versa. Shawn calls him crazy for believing this. Philip claims he can offer Belle and Claire stability and refers to Shawn as a kid still trying to decide what he wants to be when he grows up. “I wanna be a cop, and Belle’s perfectly fine being the wife of a cop,” confirms Shawn. Philip claims that Belle’s only marrying him because of Claire and because she feels obligated. Shawn reminds Philip that he destroyed his marriage to Belle when he walked out and re-enlisted with the Marines.
