DNA Doesn't Make a Parent

By Gwen Morett, About.com

Chelsea and Stephanie are outside the sorority house preparing to move in. Chelsea relays that Nick couldn’t help because he couldn’t find a sitter for the boys. Chelsea is excited about living at the house as freshman. Steph predicts Morgan will just end up hurting Max. The gals go inside the house to inquire about roommate arrangements.

Inside the house, Ford approaches Max and Morgan and invites Max to come to his next party, raving about how many hot chicks are there. Max sarcastically tells him to call when he has the next one. Morgan approaches the newest sorority sisters and informs them that there’s a single room upstairs and a bed in Cordy’s room, so they can decide who takes what. Chelsea decides to room with Cordy and wishes Stephanie luck lugging her stuff upstairs. A jealous Stephanie watches Morgan cozy up to Max.

Stephanie helps Chelsea unpack and notes that Max and Morgan are getting pretty serious. Chelsea implores her not to analyze their relationship right now. Steph admits she’s bummed they’re not going to be roommates and suggests they ask Cordy to take the single room. The ladies then come downstairs. Morgan notices Max and Steph exchange glances across the room and asks him what’s going on. Max claims there’s nothing going on between him and Steph, since she’s in love with Jeremy Horton. Morgan wonders if Stephane and Jeremy are still dating, but Max reveals that he left town. Morgan then surmises that Stephanie’s single and conveys that she’d like to hang exclusively with Max.

Stephanie leaves the party to head upstairs to her room. Ford approaches Chelsea and wonders where Steph’s going. Chelsea tells him upstairs and inquires about his date with Cordy. Ford mentions that Cordy has serious issues and remarks that he takes her to a really nice restaurant and spends a bundle of money on dinner, but she eats two bites and wants to leave. Chelsea suggests maybe she wasn’t feeling well. Ford refers to Cordy as weird and insecure and starts to hit on Chelsea, suggesting she’s the kind of woman who would stay throughout dinner and have dessert. Chelsea laughs and asks if he’s serious, referring to his line as cheesy and comparing him to Jeremy Horton.

Meanwhile, Morgan suggests that Max talk to Stephanie to make sure they’re on the same page. Max wonders if Morgan’s wealthy family will really approve of her dating a bartender. Morgan chuckles that they would hate it, but they’d get over it once they saw how happy he made her. They decide to become exclusive and give dating a shot. The two share a steamy kiss, which Stephanie witnesses upon coming down the stairs.

Chelsea approaches Cordy, who is accosted by Ford. “Don’t touch me!” exclaims an unsettled Cordy. This arouses suspicion in Morgan, Chelsea, and Stephanie. Chelsea and Stephanie go after Cordy, while Morgan confronts Ford. Ford refers to Cordy as psycho. Morgan claims that guys like him give the Greek system a bad reputation.

Cordy sits and cries in her room as Morgan, Chelsea, and Stephanie enter and inquire what’s going on. Cordy cries that she’s tired of school and reveals that she went to the registrar’s office and dropped all of her classes and is leaving. The girls are stunned.

Ford later hits on Carmen, who brushes him off. He is approached by Max, who notes that he’s not having any luck with the ladies. Ford refers to Cordy as a mistake and claims he only took her out because she won him at the bachelor auction. Max appears suspicious of Ford as he proceeds to go hit on another hot girl.

Back in Cordy’s room, Morgan is startled that Cordy’s leaving school, noting that she has the highest GPA in the house. Chelsea is surprised as well, since she thought Cordy liked being a physics major. Morgan implores her to spill what’s going on. Cordy claims she just needs to get away. Steph deduces that it’s about a guy and admits she knows what it’s like to be used and dumped by a jerk. Chelsea suspects it’s about Ford. Morgan assures Cordy that they’re sisters forever and are there for her. Chelsea suggests throwing a going away party, but Cordy balks at the idea since her parents are coming soon and she needs to pack. The girls leave her to be alone per Cordy’s request. Morgan suspects something’s not right with Cordy and suggests they leave her alone for now.

Later, Morgan instructs Carmen, Stephanie, and Chelsea to be there when Cordy’s parents pick her up and let her know how much they’ll miss her. Chelsea then approaches Ford and questions why Cordy decided to drop out of school. Ford suggests it’s a good idea, insisting that Cordy needs meds in a big way. Max and Chelsea agree that Ford sounds just like Jeremy Horton. Steph expresses concern for Cordy, since she seemed scared earlier. Max refers to Ford as the type of guy he can’t stand. Morgan calls Max her knight in shining armor and kisses him on the cheek before they walk off. Chelsea implores Stephanie to tell Max how she feels. Steph storms out the door as Chelsea suggests she shouldn’t be alone.

Chelsea enters Cordy’s room and remarks how she can’t find her MP3 player and asks Cordy how her parents reacted to the news. Cordy replies that her dad was furious and her mom cried. Chelsea informs her what a jerk Ford was being just now by hitting on her. She implores Cordy to spill what happened on her date with Ford. Cordy tells Chelsea to leave her alone. Chelsea leaves the room and tells Morgan how she tried to talk to Cordy again. Morgan wonders where Steph went. Chelsea claims she wasn’t feeling well so she went home. Carmen then yells at Ford to leave her alone. Max intervenes and tells him to get out. Carmen thanks Max for stepping in. Chelsea then receives a call from campus security informing her that she left her car lights on. Chelsea is suspicious and proceeds to go check it out. Max offers to go with her, but Chelsea says it’s alright since she’s parked out front. Morgan asks Max to go with Chelsea just to make sure she’s safe. He agrees and says he’ll be right back.

Outside, as Chelsea unlocks her car, she’s grabbed from behind.
