Kiriakis Pool
Kate is outside at the Kiriakis mansion talking to her assistant, Chris, on the phone. She gets distracted when Daniel emerges from the pool dressed in his swimwear. A drooling Kate says she’ll call Chris back. Daniel notes that she’s sitting on his towel, so she stands up. Kate mentions how she used Victor’s guilt to her advantage, as he offered her his pool. She is feeling pretty optimistic about her test results, but Daniel doesn’t appear to share the same sentiment. Daniel confirms that he hasn’t received her biopsy results yet. Kate insists that she knows how serious her condition is, but doesn’t want to think about it today. She proposes they split a bottle of wine. Daniel proceeds to break into the wine cellar, then receives a call from the lab.
Daniel gets off the phone and reveals that Kate’s biopsy results are inconclusive, meaning that the tissue and fluid collected showed no signs of malignancy. Kate is relieved and wonders if it means she doesn’t have lung cancer. By Daniel’s expression, she assumes that it means she might not have cancer and wonders what’s next. They stare at each other before Daniel suggests going to get some drinks. Kate encourages him to stay there, implying how one sees things more clearly after facing mortality. She inches closer to him and Daniel doesn’t exactly back off. They share a passionate kiss and proceed to get hot and heavy outside by the pool.
After they do the deed, they snuggle in the lounge chair and lace hands as Daniel assures her that he’s with her every step of the way. Kate thanks him and just wants to think about being there with him, then kisses him.
Horton Cabin
Lucas comes back home, where Sami is trying on new clothes in order to conceal her pregnancy. He says it doesn’t matter what she wears, E.J. will still find out she’s pregnant. Chloe arrives home and surmises that Sami is putting on weight after popping out three kids and quips how E.J. loves her for what’s inside. Sami takes her shopping bags and excuses herself to let Lucas and Chloe talk.
Lucas is eager to get Chloe alone, as he had no idea she was coming home from Kansas City today. Chloe seductively implores him to get rid of Sami so they can take one of their famous hot showers. Lucas demurs that Sami will be staying with them for a while. Chloe chews him out for letting Sami move in there without talking to her about it first. Lucas reminds Chloe that he and Sami have kids together and thus she’s an important part of his life. Chloe admits she likes playing house with Lucas and Allie when the tot isn’t crying her head off or Lucas isn’t being neurotic, exaggerating how Lucas obsesses over Allie and checks on her every ten seconds. “Do you ever check on me?” questions the whiny opera singer. Lucas states that he doesn’t need to check on her, it’s different. Chloe whines how the cabin is cramped and always smells like dirty diapers. Lucas believes she’s overreacting. Chloe refuses to stay there with Sami and storms out.
DiMera Mansion
Nicole and E.J. arrive back from the hospital, where she declares that she’s moving in since he didn’t answer her previous question. E.J. accuses her of using her pregnancy for money. Nicole quips how that’s all she cares about. She proceeds to leave, disgusted that E.J. actually believes that’s what she’s after. E.J. apologizes for accusing her unfairly, claiming he’s rattled and not thinking straight. Nicole stresses that her concern is for the baby, especially knowing that she no longer has Victor’s settlement. E.J. understands, but just can't help but feeling ambushed, like she planned this. “How could I have planned this when I was told I couldn’t get pregnant?” refutes Nicole. She admits she feels blessed that it happened at all.
E.J. rehashes how her history with Victor was based on portfolios and bank accounts, which is what he doesn’t want. Nicole admits that she’s ashamed of her marriage to Victor, then wonders if E.J. is saying that he wants to marry her. E.J. clarifies that he’s just commenting on what he doesn’t want if he gets married again. He states that marriage is about the last thing on his mind, noting how they haven’t even had their first date yet. He believes Nicole moving into the mansion would be complicated, especially if Stefano found out she was carrying a DiMera heir. Nicole believes Stefano would take very good care of her and be a lot more welcoming than E.J. She proposes that it’s time they share the happy news with the grandfather. E.J. warns her that she’d be making a mistake. “No. The mistake was telling you, thinking that you’d give a rat’s *ass about me,” she counters. She leaves, figuring she’s not wanted there.
After Nicole storms out, E.J. sits down and looks at a picture of himself and Johnny. He phones Sami and announces that he’s coming to the island to spend some time with his son. She tries to talk him out of it, but he hangs up.
Back at the Cabin
Lucas comes back inside and tells Sami he has to go into town because Chloe made it off the island. Sami insists that he can’t leave, since E.J.’s on his way over and thus she needs Lucas to help distract him. Lucas refuses and opens the door to E.J. before leaving. Sami scoots her chair in, hoping he doesn’t notice her pregnant belly. She tells E.J. that Johnny’s napping, then tries to talk him into going home. E.J. admits that he really didn’t come to see Johnny, but instead he needed a friend to talk to. He sits down and remarks how the Nicole pregnancy ordeal is a complete disaster. Sami attempts to hold back the tears as she congratulates E.J. on becoming a father again. She mentions how it’s a sign that he and Nicole belong together. E.J. doesn’t understand, reminding Sami how she hates Nicole. She admits that Nicole isn’t exactly her favorite person, but assures E.J. that they have Johnny together. She wants to lay down with Johnny, claiming how tired she is. E.J. kisses her on the forehead, asking her to say goodnight to Johnny for him. He turns around and thanks her for the talk, obvious that he doesn’t want to leave. After he walks out, Sami breaks down.
