A Killer Target
The killer continues to target Sami outside the Horton cabin with his rifle as she talks to E.J. Meanwhile, Sami reiterates her request to E.J. to just go, claiming she’s fine. E.J. displays his concern, even though she insists on moving on and forgetting today ever happened.
Baby Talk at the DiMera Mansion
Nicole doesn’t want to hear what Chloe has to say about Sami, insisting that she’s had enough stress for one day. She suggests talking about something fun and uplifting, then asks Chloe what she thinks of the name Henry for a boy. “Yeah, cool,” shrugs Chloe. Nicole suggests Sarah for a little girl. “Sarah DiMera?” jokes Chloe. Nicole proceeds to fetch a baby name book.
Nicole looks through the baby name book and sees the names Destiny and Diana, but Chloe isn’t too thrilled at discussing names. Nicole enthuses how E.J. told her that he wanted it all, including a house, picket fence, and kids, which he wants with her. She admits her insecurity and can’t help thinking that he’s still on the fence and just trying to talk himself into it. Chloe admits that Nicole’s her friend and hopes it all works out for her. Nicole expresses how much it means to her, rehashing how Chloe’s forgiven her for so many things. She expresses how much Chloe’s loyalty means to her and feels as though Chloe will always be straight with her. An uncomfortable Chloe excuses herself to make a call.
Chloe goes out into the foyer to call Lucas, who is at the Horton cabin with E.J. and Sami. “I’m with Nicole and I can’t stand it. She deserves to know that Sami’s also pregnant with E.J.’s baby!” she insists. Lucas tells her that it’s not her call. Chloe wonders what the difference is, since the truth is going to come out anyway. Lucas agrees with her, but it’s up to Sami. “Nicole is my friend!” she exclaims. “And I’m your boyfriend!” counters Lucas. Chloe refuses to be loyal to Sami and hangs up on Lucas. Lucas claims something came up and leaves the cabin.
Chaos at the Horton Cabin
The killer continues to point his rifle at Sami, who reiterates her demand to E.J. to just leave. E.J. looks her in the eye and implores her to tell him what’s going on. Sami gets upset and claims she just wants to go to bed and forget tonight ever happened. E.J. sees the target pointing towards her head and yells at her to get down, pushing her out of harm’s way.. E.J. asks a frightened Sami if she’s alright, alerting her that someone was shooting at her. He tells her to stay put, but Sami frantically begs him not to go.
Roman arrives on the scene and notices the broken window as a result of the bullet. He wonders what the hell Sami was thinking after he told her not to come back to the island. Roman orders his fellow officers to search the area and determine the shooter’s position. Marlena arrives and embraces her distressed daughter. John is there too checking out the scene as Sami fears that the mayor’s killer is after her. He looks at the window and questions what the trajectory of the bullet was. Sami yells how she has no idea, since she was busy being shot at. Marlena gently tells John to go. “Good to know you’re not damaged,” says John before he leaves. Marlena expresses how glad she is that E.J. was there. Sami fears that the killer will keep trying again and again until he kills her, since the killer knows she’s a threat.
Back at the DiMera Mansion
Nicole and Chloe make a toast to being best friends forever. Nicole then recalls how quiet and sad Chloe got before and questions who she called earlier. Chloe claims she called Lucas to tell him she wouldn’t be back at the cabin until much later. She admits how proud she is of Nicole for taking such great care of herself. Nicole admits it’s been strangely easy being sober, but the stress of Sami sometimes drives her crazy. She knows that E.J. is drawn to Sami, referring to her as a “fly in the baby ointment.” A conflicted Chloe is about to spill the beans about Sami’s pregnancy, but Lucas barges in and tells her no.
Nicole berates Lucas for barging in unannounced and questions where “Ralph” is. “I told Rolf that it was urgent. I need to speak to Chloe,” he affirms. Nicole demands for Lucas to wait elsewhere and wants to know what Chloe was going to say to her. Lucas claims that Chloe was going to say that Sami and E.J. share a child together, and previews that it won’t be the same when Nicole and E.J. have their baby. Nicole gets it, but doesn’t get why Lucas rushed over there to tell her something so ridiculously obvious. Lucas continues to beat around the bush, then is interrupted by a call from a crying Sami, who reveals that someone tried to shoot her. Lucas tells the ladies he has to go, sharing how someone tried to kill Sami. “Someone tried to kill Sami?” emphasizes Nicole. “Damn,” sighs the ladies in unison.
Chloe complains how Lucas charged out of there after hearing Sami’s in danger. “Welcome to my world,” responds Nicole. A bitter Chloe is convinced that Sami gets herself into trouble so the men in her life come running to her rescue. Nicole then wonders where E.J. is. John emerges and reveals that Elvis is with Samantha and just saved her life. Nicole is incredulous and whines what kind of spell Sami has on him. John predicts that E.J. will want Sami even closer than ever before now that she’s in danger.
Back at the Horton Cabin
Marlena sits with Sami as one of the officers displays the bullet to Roman, who tells him to get it down to the lab. Sami continues to fear for her life, assuming that the killer won’t stop until he kills her.
Roman later announces that he’s doubled the man power for the search, and Sami will be under police protection and have a guard with her 24/7. Lucas arrives and displays concern for Sami and Chloe is close behind. Roman announces that they are putting Sami into a temporary Witness Protection Program.
