Kate Roberts undoubtedly has done everything in the book to try and get Sami out of her son Lucas’s life, such as framing her for murder, drugging her to make it look as though she slept with Brandon, and setting her up as a hero for a fake reality TV show. Her latest scheme of blackmailing Nick into rigging the paternity test results to make it look as though EJ is the father of her twins is the last straw, though. She hasn’t had a steady man since her divorce from Roman, and frankly, she deserves to end up all alone in the scheme of things! This is pathetic proof that her hatred for Sami is stronger than her love for Lucas, since she’s willing to deprive her own son of ever knowing what may very well turn out to be his own offspring. Additionally, she doesn’t even think twice about wanting to know if the twins are even her own grandchildren! Eventually, the truth to this will all come out. It shocks me beyond disbelief that Kate would resort to such extreme measures. After all, she has always been a smart, savvy businesswoman, but when it comes to her children, she continually makes disgustingly foolish choices. Blackmailing Nick tops the list. Newly Sensible Sami knows the truth always has a way of coming out. Kate has absolutely nothing to gain in this because Lucas and Sami’s love and respect has grown for one another, and Lucas especially has matured from a young, spoiled, military brat into a loving, respectful, unselfishly devoted husband. Kate will end up being the loser in the end with nobody to share Christmases with but herself. I doubt if even Billie will share an eggnog with her after Kate’s vendetta comes out in the open.
Nick, on the other hand, has a choice here. He could perform the actual DNA test and stand up to the selfish and vindictive Kate. Sure, his career would surely be over for destroying the hairbrush evidence, but Lucas and Sami would know the truth. I can certainly understand why Nick feels tormented, as he does have to make a living and if Kate would squeal on him, then how would he make ends meet? On the other hand, he has to know that Kate is the sore loser in the grand scheme of things, since she’s the one who’s going to end up on everyone’s hate list in the end. This is a blackmail scheme that no one is going to forgive her for. She is not only tormenting Nick, Lucas, and Sami, but also Billie and Philip since they could turn out to have at least one new niece or nephew on the way. How cold and calculating can one person be? Just ask Sami, blackmailers ALWAYS eventually get exposed for their conniving, evil ways. Come on, how many more times do we actually have to see this tiresome paternity switch storyline played out? Sami did a switch when Belle was a baby, making everyone believe Belle was actually Roman’s, Will was believed to be Austin’s until Sami’s sister Carrie discovered the truth, Claire was once thought to be Philip’s, Patrick paid Dr. Bader to falsify a DNA report stating that Ciara was actually his instead of Bo’s, among other switcheroo scams that I’ve neglected to mention.
Nick is still determined to run a real DNA test on his own. Meanwhile, EJ seems to be playing the hero, determined to do anything he can in order to protect his babies, or so the fake DNA test reveals. If, in the long run, it turns out that the twins are actually EJ’s, then I wish we could actually see a scene in which one of the babies spits up on one of EJ’s designer suits. Having a baby is undoubtedly the most wonderful experience one can endure, but it’s also a lot of work and oftentimes not so glamorous, as too often undepicted in the land of soaps. I can easily picture EJ’s reaction if, heaven forbid, one of his babies makes a mess on his suit: sheer annoyance. On the other hand, Lucas would just make one of his silly wisecracks and laugh it off.
Kate latest threat to Nick proves that she has absolutely no heart left. She has hated Sami for years, but seems reluctant to believe that Sami was forced to give into EJ’s desires in order to save Lucas’s life. This is Kate’s own son we’re talking about, and she seems unmoved by the fact that EJ was only willing to save Lucas if and only if Sami had sex with the devil! No woman in the world deserves to be raped for any reason whatsoever. Kate was prostitute in her former life and an abused wife, and she doesn’t exhibit an ounce of sympathy for what Sami had to do to save Lucas. It sickens me how she hates Sami so much that she is willing to risk depriving Lucas and herself for that matter of ever knowing what could be his children and her grandchildren.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to find out who the real father is, or if the twins have two different fathers. My guess is that Nick and the viewers will find out, but nobody else in Salem will discover the truth until one of the babies gets sick and thus needs a blood transfusion.
